We belong to workamper.com and were wondering if we should also join KOA Work Kamper program. Anyone have pros/cons? Please let us know your thoughts.
As always, Thank you for the assistance.

...........I was active on their list for a year or so , until I found a semi permanent job . It was Free , then , 2008 , but they have sent me two email flyers wanting me to rejoin for $35 ! Why would I pay them $35 when the absolute number of Workcamper jobs have decreased considerably as has everything else in our current economy . You'd be better served to invest in a Workcamper membership than to drop $35 down the KOA rathole . There were , and still are I'm sure , job listings available in the KOA system but WCamper receives listings from a larger campground employer audience than KOA . , jf

I agree with jimmyfred. I've WC for KOA just by asking the campground if they needed help. Why give them $35 for a 10% off card.

I have workamped for KOA twice and they both promised 40 hours. I barely made my site hours on one and the other, my husband and I were lucky if we got 45-50 hours a week. I also noticed more were going to work for your site only.

We are at our second KOA workamper assignment, and both have gone very well.
However we got both jobs by contacting the campgrounds directly. No way would I pay the money to join their workamper program, and when they started it up I emailed the person in charge of the program and told her why.

I also sent a note to KOA when they announced their changes to charge for monitoring their jobs. Haven't signed up since the change. They do have a large amount of KOA jobs posting on their site, but our first and only experience working at KOA wasn't the greatest so we are staying with Workamper as a single source.

A little off topic but if KOA doesn't improve the quality of service and more reasonble pricing at the majority of their CG's, there won't be that many. We most likely will not be renewing our card after it expires.

Save your money...stop by any KOA and pick up a free directory. If you are wanting to workcamp in Colorado, start calling or email a campground you're interested in. We like others have gotten all our positions by contacting the campground personally, a KOA has never called looking for help. Sell yourself by email...always include a picture so right away they can get an idea as to what a couple looks like.
