I would guess a half-mile to a mile, depending on the campsite. What a tremendous beach.

If you take bikes, you can easily ride to the beach. They also have large parking areas at the beach.

My daughter and I rode by the alligator pond at dusk when we were there one spring. Didn't know I could still ride that fast......

It's not too far at all. They have 2 parking lots. One is at the pier and the other is at the jetties. You can also take your bikes. We use a bike cart (like the kind that kids ride in) and hook it to our bikes and load up our beach stuff that way.

I know this is off topic but I was at St Andrews earlier this week and there was a large manatee cruising by just offshore. It's rare to see one this far north. A sheriff's deputy was patroling the beach and pointed him out as he went by.

We just returned from SA this morning. Last night after dinner we were walking around the campground on the lagoon side and there were two dolphins playing about 100' offshore. One jumped completely out of the water. Others around us reacted like they were watching fireworks. It was great seeing the expressions on the faces of those little kids. This will probably be a camping trip they'll remember for a long time.
