We recently purchased our new Big Sky and the last part of the process is sitting down with the Finance Manager to get the total price recap and to give him a chance to upsell various add-on items.

One we found intriguing was Xzilon. Claiming to be good for several years and everything comes off with just water and a sponge. It is standard practice for dealers (both car and RV) to gouge for add-ons (they wanted $895 to apply it but then, because I was so special, said would do it for $495). I found a complete kit (interior and exterior) on eBay for $49.

Has anybody had experience with this product? Does it work? Is it easy to apply? Is there a better product? Most posts I've read use the standard polish/wax procedure.

if it's on ebay for $49, then it must be worth $19....haven't heard about it yet looking for replys also....ok back now; and a couple of thoughts 1.it last for 5ys, but what if it don't? 2.two different products A:for the exterior B:for the interior. 3.what's wrong w/scotchguard for the interior; at $6 a can? 4.the size of exterior product is for 2cars that might do 1/2 your rv unless you have a 25' model....so double or triple the asking price. as of right now i would use a good wax, and for the price have someone else do it...i can spray the interior down w/scotchguard no problem....remember when they (dealers) would sell this service for 3 to 6 hundred.....

You got the special price because some other sucker already payed the other half of the dealers yacht payment for this month.

Dealer did mine for $200.00 18mos ago. Still looks good and the streaks come off with soap and water. Supposed to last 5 years, we'll see. Friend bought a camper from the same place about the same time and didn't have it done. Side by side the difference is extremely noticeable.

I'm in the automotive business and have been for over 18 years. I am here to tell you that any and all of that Chemical coating BS is simply that, B.S. Its nothing but a profit center and please do not waste your money on it. Just keep it waxed good and you will do the same thing.

I was in the autmovite business as well (dealerships) for 20 years- but have since left that dying industry. Seen many, many products come and go through our dealerships doors. Agree on the "profit center" from dspencer above, but I will say that of all the products I've seen our dealerships buy/use and then over-price sell.... Xzilon was/is the best of them all.

Have Xzilon on both my truck and wifes vehicle. IMHO, its good stuff comapred to what other snake-oil I've seen. I would not pay the dealer (and at that time my employer) though- I bought the bottles direct from a supplier at $20 a bottle and I applied it myself. Doing a TT or our TH would be lots of labor/time- but after getting the idea from reading this post, I might now do it to ours since I have a bottle left over!

I use Dry Wash N Guard and it's just as good or better than the snake oil the dealers try to sell you. The dealers even try to upsell you protective coating for the seats (all out vehicles have leather seating, a requirement of the DW's)
