were on our 6th trailer after over35 yrs.of rving.its not hard to figure out the low, mid, and high end trailers.i belive jayco is a mid level with some nice appointments.our friends have a jayco eagle,a 2005 bunk model.theres is holding up so so,remember, just like a house, trailers need maintance, but some times the mfg. gives a hand early.dont belive jayco is much differernt than most the rv mfgs.you hear stories with all of them.maybe there will be a bail out for the rv owner who is dissatified?

I haven't had any problems with mine yet but have only owned it about six months. And I bought a used trailer. I had an older Airstream first and a Coachmen fifth wheel second. This Jayco Talon is my third trailer.
I take a different attitude towards these things. I don't buy a new one because I believe they are all terribly over priced. And even with used ones I look for a real steal of a deal because I don't think any of the trailers are going to be worth having after they are about ten years old or so. I don't believe any are built to really last. And even if they were who would want to own the same old trailer for ten years? In a ten year span things will change. New floorplans will be thought out. New equipment will be designed. And other things will happen to make most people want a new trailer. So I try to buy something cheap enough so that I feel like I get my moneys worth of it in as little as three to five years then update. And in buying the way I do if there is a minor problem I just fix it.
I know if I went out and bought some brand new trailer for over $40,000.00 I would be disappointed no matter who made it. But certainly I would be disappointed if I got a lemon even in a used inexpensive unit. The used Coachmen I bought was a lemon but even with it I got four years use with not too much work. Then I sold it for only $1,500.00 less than I paid for it.
I would imagine a brand new Airstream might be well built. But look at the cost. Maybe there are some fifth wheels I haven't looked at that are well built. But they are still just house trailers on wheels.
This is my first Jayco and it's too early to say how great it is. I like it so far. But the great thing about it is I bought it cheap enough that if it becomes a problem I'll dump it and get something else.

We have the 2006 29FBS TT, bought it new in fall of '06. Out first TT!
Besides what I would consider "normal" quirks that I would expect from any maker, loose screws, some minor adjustments, our Jayco has been supurb! For the minor items that I could not correct myself, Jayco coustomer service has been top notch! I feel very fortunate getting a good unit on our first purchase.
There are lemmons in every lot from every maker. It's sad to hear of problems from simple lack of workmanship. I agree with an above post, it your trailer still within warranty (2 year)?
As far as the Jayco video, I don't get what all the hubub is about? It's a unit built on an assembly line. Are other trailer makers different? I don't expect so. Components are built separately (cabinets, etc) and installed. It's basically 6 hours construction time. So what? Is the manufacture of out trucks and cars any different? I do agree they are moving quickly and more care should be given in the product, but that is true of most things nowadays.

The quality of a Jayco product is no better no worse than any other brand. A tour trough any of the plants will indicate how much all the brands are the same.. Same vendors, same materials, same method of construction, same workforce.
One factory looks almost identical to the next. How we use them has a lot to do with their durability.Plants like Jayco and Montana were cranking out 20/22 units a day in better times using archaic assembly line methods. We all have problems with our brand....and these forums report all the troubles and few of the good things

Even with all the problems with all RV manufacturers, I think they are still better then the government.

This spring when we were lookin for a new fiver we looked seriously at Jayco but ended up with a Keystone Cougar. The main reason was that our local Jayco dealer was a horse's behind. He acted like we were bothering him as he showed us his inventory so we drove up the road and bought the unit we got. I was actually looking forward to pulling a Jayco but it just wasn't to be...Oh well!

I went down to buy a new Jayco in Huachuca Arizona from the dealer and was flabergasted as to how poor the Jaycos' are built. The interiors are very rough with molding missing, drawers not aligned, and the microwaves look like they are thrown into the walls. The exteriors are just as bad. Three of them on the lot new had delam issues. Three units had leaked and smelled moldy. I think the Jayco quality is a thing of the past. They are purely production units now and the Amish attachment that we all feel gave the rigs quality is a figment of our imagination. The delam issue is a for real problem and I think sooner or later units constructed with those materials will come apart. I will stick to an alum frame and tin outside until someone can build it right.

hobbes2 wrote: Well , we have had our jayco 5th wheel for about a year and a half now without too many problems. So we are out west for 5 weeks this summer and we start seeing things falling apart. 1 cracked rim , Bubbles in the back wall(dealer says the entire back wall needs to be replced due to leakage). , drawers that keep falling out while on the road, main slide that twists and creeks when you first start out with it . slide that jams when it is in and wont go out. A big pointed bump shows up in the middle of the floor( need to remove the floor to get to it),All new rubber seals around slides due to them falling off, Metal screws falling out all over, shower door and frame held on by caulk which fell off and every thing came loose and leaked. We still love the floorplan and the jayco but this is not what we expected from what others have claimed about jayco. A lot of these problems , mostly the main slide issues seem like they could just happen again because of the design issues. What to do? Thanks Just needed to vent.
Funny you should mention the shower door. I just winterized my 07 Jayco 325BHS and took it out to the farm yesterday where it will stay til Jan. when I hope to go to Yuma. I was putting anti-freeze down the bathtub drain when the shower door fell apart leaving the upper rail flapping in the breeze. My 2 year warranty ended on the 24 Aug. (go figure). I don't think it is a big deal but will have to wait for fix later as time was short.
