You were off on the wrong foot, by completing this trip in 30 days. I have drove up and back five times, the last in 07. I take 30 days to travel through Canada and don't return to the states until around the 15th of Sep. Sorry your trip of a life time only took 30 days. As they say, "slow down". Speed is what caused the gravel to do the damage. I drove the coach in my signature and did not experience any problems. I guess you will not be returning next year.

Having driven to Alaska from Texas and being familiar with Odessa,I have to ask why you made the trip? Odessa offers some of the most smelly, dusty and bleak scenery of anywhere in Texas, or the world. To give this up for a 30 day drive to Alaska....What were you thinking? Having to endure the great scenery, glaciers and all the other things that make the trip to Alaska a great experience was truly a bad decision on your part. Next time go to Wink or Pecos and have a great camping experience.

We took 4 months from San Antonio in 2007 to drive to Alaska--It was great. We were in Alaska about 10 weeks with 30 days in Soldotna for fishing. I can't imagine a 30 day trip! My suggestion is go slower and enjoy more of the experience. I did enjoy reading your trip details.
