I'm shopping for a new truck and I'm down to two choices, which are almost identical. One has no bed liner, and the other has a drop in liner. I'm getting many opinions that a drop in liner is not the way to go, so I'm going to talk to the dealer who put one in and see if he'll take it back out and cut a bit of the price...

I'll probably go with a Linex spray in liner.

But I've never shopped for one, so I have no idea at all even in round numbers what cost I'm looking at. Can anyone with some recent experience give me a rough idea? I'm talking about a GM extended cab with a long box, by the way...

Thx

Problem with drop in liners is that they move around and chafe the paint off. Bare metal will rust, but you won't see it until you lift the liner out.
IMHO A spray in liner is the only way to go.
My standard (6'8") box cost me $400 for Linex four years ago. An 8' box will be more.
It has held up well and I would not hesitate to do it again.

Put LineX in a F350 long bed under the bed rail. Paid just under $400 for it.

If you want just the line-x and not Xtra, around 400.

If you add Xtra add another 150 to the cost.

Line-X Xtra is a DuPont ceramic particle infused product that keeps the liner from fading. Also the top color is able to color match to your paint color if you wanted to.

I went with the Xtra topcoat, and after 3 years, it still looks like the day it was sprayed.

Here is what it looks like in black

Make sure you dont get that animal, mine faded to dull black after one year took the truck back and complained and was sold a bottle of Rhino black to bring the luster back, my last truck had line-x and it was wonderful, the next will too! Bill

I wish my line x was only $400. Much like anything else it varies on where you buy it. Mine was $560 over the rails.

Talk to the dealer, he can get it sprayed cheaper than you can in most cases.

Boy, I was 350 for over the rail in 2000, and 350 in 05 for an under the rail......

Any way. as the OP is probably noticing, over the rail vs under the rail will change the figure around $100 or there abouts. Whether it is worth it to you, again, how do you use the rig? the newest GMs with the bolt together bed, and bolted on plastice top, an over the rail is not needed.

I'm not going to say these things are bullet proof, as both my 2000 and 05 s worst, probably as it gets used harder than the 2000, have rips, tears etc in the lining. Trying to pull rock out of the bed with my track hoe.........linex does not hold up to this, nor hitting the inner wheel fender with a 2800 lb pallet of pavers being pushed in with a forklift, nor do they like daily hits on the back of the bed with flat shovels removing rock, topsoil etc......."BUT," with that in mind, I still feel the spray in is a better option than a "in the bed liner" having had more than one since they first came out in about 1980 or so.
