The title sums up the question. How many of you folks cover up your 5er for the winter, and if you do which cover has worked the best for you?
Where I live we get a lot of wind during the winter months and since I live at 7300ft in elevation the UV effect is hard on most all fabrics.

I've never covered mine up, but I have gone out with a step ladder and swept the snow off the roof if it gets too thick. I do it while its still powdery and light (which means its COLD out while I'm doing it), but it helps prevent ice build up in the spring when it starts to melt and prevents any ice dams and wicking up (and then down) through the roof vents.

I don't cover my 5th because I also live in a windy area and I think the cover will do more damage than the elements. I just make sure the caulking is good a few times a year and check the inside during the winter. I figure it built as a 4 season model so it shouldn't need a cover.

I used to cover mine, before I started using for Snow birding, If you do decide to cover it, be careful of rubbing, esp in the wind. It will eat through the finishes real quick. If your worried about the fabrics fading why not just cover those up with an old sheet. The cover did tend to keep it cleaner. But around here the snow tends not to stay white more then a couple of days, then it starts to turn gray. JM2Cents Bill

We covered our first fiver, but the wind caused the cover to wear a hole on the corcer of the rubber roof. We've elected not to cover our last two fivers.

I don't cover it and don't worry about it.

I poke my head inside at least every couple weeks to be sure the mice are staying dry and eating well

Cover ours and has made a big difference when we get ready for spring. You need to use the right cover and secure the straps as the manufacture recommends.
