Seems like a lot of work to get a campsite not quite as nice as a popup would provide. A used pup probably wouldn't even cost as much!
IMO, if you are going to tent camp, do it where the cars and trailers can't go!

Perhaps I am. But you gotta admit that once you decide to make the committment to buying a trailer, equipping a vehicle to tow it, storing the trailer at home, possibly buying license plates for it....
You've already taken on most of the headaches and expenses of owning a popup but aren't getting hardly any of the advantages. That's worth pondering.
UNLESS, like I said, you tend to carry that tent on your back or in a canoe to where no vehicle can go. THAT is why I'll never get rid of my tent, thermarest, whisperlite, etc. Backcountry tent camping rules over front country camping! But it gets hard on the back to carry in everything for a family of five......

We are planning on doing something similar to this. We already own a small
4 x 6 enclosed cargo trailer and will simply use this to haul/store all of our camping supplies. We're going to be ordering 2 canvas tents, cots, sleeping bags....all the necessary tent camping items. They will all be stored and ready to go in the trailer, so we can go camping whenver we can get away. The trailer is too small to sleep in, but will provide great LOCKABLE storage at the campsites while we are out sightseeing  Lots cheaper than the huge 40 ft 5th wheel we just sold. We won't be missing rv payments, tabs, fuel, and maintenance. Thanks!

priced pop-ups latley?
Using a u-haul trailer I for one think it is a great idea.
I have seen pictures of a flat bed trailer that someone had built a cover over it and had a camp kitchen on one side and storage on other and storage that was reached by the back doors for bikes beds ect.
But my cousin only sleeps in a tent and does his traveling on a bicycle I don't want to do that.

We loved taking our utility trailer for all our tent camping junk. A small refrigerator was amoung the stuff but most of all we loved taking our 6 bikes.

I use my 6x10 for the past three years. Back doors open up when I want to get washed up with a fold down sink and on the doors is a shower curtain for privacy. Front is counter for when I want to make some food and use a stove on the side of the trailer for cooking. Space beneath the bed for generator and other extras. Bed is full size. Only problem I wish the trailer was 7x10. Compensate by angle sleeping. 4x6x5 foam mattress. Smaller inside scren doors built for bug protection. Front and back doors. I once slept in the full son in hot weather and with only a small fan on me was very comfortable with the doors fully open using the screen doors. No wind. Pulling over to the side of the road when I want to sleep without setting up. Priceless.
