I`am currently at a camp ground hooked into 50 amp service.I would have thought that i could run every thing with no worry of tripping a breaker. This is not the case. The fridge is on electric,as is the hot water heater, and of course my 15,000 btu AC.All is fine with just these running with a couple of lights and the TV.I have one of those portable ice makers as well. With every thing else running and the ice maker kicks in I will trip the breaker for the AC.I also have a washer/dryer I haven`t tryed to use that yet with the other stuff running, but I`am thinking the same thing will happen. Are all 50 amp services the same??It doesn`t seem so in my case.Any thoughts???

It has little to do with 50 amp vs 30. You have problems with how your RV is wired. Nothing else should be on the breaker with your 15K air conditioner, there should be no outlet on that circuit where you can plug in another appliance like your ice maker. Plug it into a different circuit.

Perhaps there is a low voltage condition and the extra appliance drops the voltage to where the AC is the first to kick off.

As others suggest, voltage on the entire circuit will be affected when any appliance kicks on. Low voltage causes an increase in current in all the remaining appliances. It may be contributed by a weak breaker or it might not have been sized properly in the first place.

If it was peak time for the park, there may have been others near by using lots of power as well causing a LV condition for that section of the park.

You might map out your rig - determine which breaker controls which built-in appliances (microwave, etc), outlets, lights, ceiling fans and determine if there is anything you can easily move from the A/C circuit to another circuit. You need to check everything - outlets, small lights, outside lights, etc.

I have all that except the hot water on 30 amp without a problem. You have to much on one circuit. I would guess the ice maker and hot water are on the same breaker. Are you sure you have a true 50 amp from post.

It is your RV's wiring. The ice maker and A/C are both big electrical draws and each should be on a separate breaker.

As others have indicated, it sounds like a low voltage problem, but I'm guessing it's cause is a poor connection. The first thing I would check is for a tight fit on the 50 amp plug. If it's the problem, you'll feel some heat on the plug (light load = no heat, more load and more time = more heat). Sometimes you can see that a prong on your plug has been over heated.

You can easily run all that at the same time. You need to redistribute the loads.

When the rear ac kicks off does it kill power to the icemaker? If both are off then you need put the icemaker on a seperate breaker. If just the rear ac kicks off you may have an energy management system which will drop circuts under heavy loads, if you do there should be an amp meter showing total draw.
If there is low park power you will need more amps to run the same load which can cause a week breaker to trip. I keep a volt meter pluged in where it is easy to watch. On our last trip through Oregon and Washington we had low power in three parks. In two it was hot and I ran the generator so we could run both ac units without damaging them.
One of the first things I checked when we bought our new motorhome was the wiring, and I added some wires and a couple of breakers. The breaker for my rear ac kept triping, and after checking amp draw replaced the breaker and never had another problem.
After our last trip I decided to end power problems, and I have ordered a Hughes Rv 450 Autoformer and a Progressive EMS50 which I will wire in. These will boost low power, and protect against bad park wireing and power surges.
