We are looking for a great campground near Savannah that you all liked (state or private)? ? Need stuff for kids to do...indoor pool for early Springtime trip? close to Savannah and other things to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The last time we were in Savannah, we stayed at a small RV park on a lake in nearby Rincon, GA named Whispering Pines RV Park (about 20 minutes out of Savannah) which was recommended to us by some fine folks on this Forum.

While there may have been things to do there for kids we didn't notice (as we have no kids), but the park wasn't bad at all and we enjoyed our stay there and would definitely go back again. The lake is nice and peaceful and there is some pretty nice, woodsy places to walk wround the lake and through some nearby woods. We liked it!

Here are some pics.

Even though you might not like the park, do me a favor and look at the pics anyway, ok? It's been a while since I posted pics and I need the practice

Last summer we stayed at Georgia Veterans State Park near Savannah.
We really liked it, it is a state park, no swimming pool but they do have a beach area.

Tybee Island is East of Savannah Georgia. Nice campground owned by the City of Tybee Island.

How old are the kids and how long you going to be down here? When we moved here (we are South of Savannah @ 20 min) we stayed at a park that I will not recommend b/c it was too far away and had the worst ant infiltration...good people, just not good for our kids (6 & 2). There are a lot of state parks around here - and Skidaway Island State Park has a pool.

The pool at Skidaway is closed, budget cuts. A few of the Georgia Parks have closed their pools. The Georgia SP website tells if the pool is open or not.
My girlfriend and I tent camped there this last July and the pool was closed before then. Close to Savannah & Tybee Island, about 20 minutes.

We have no kids, but there seemed to be pretty many kids around.
