JMHO...An oil filled heater puts out a nice steady source of heat, without an annoying fan. They seem to just heat better than an equivilant wattage fan type heater.

Efficiency of an electric heater is 100% since all of it's heat is delivered to the living space.

We found that the ceramic version that is upright like the oil filled works better than the oil filled simply because it heats up faster. Also seems to radiate better. Neither have fans (fans are noisy).

Be careful in below freezing weather. The space heater won't keep the pipes as warm as the furnace. In higher quality rigs the furnace will be ducted to heat the basement areas where water stuff is located as well.

We use the oil filled one. Just used it last weekend camping. They are quiet, and not hot to the touch. I had to crank up the furnace in the fifth wheel just so it would kick on to heat all the storage compartments.
