Really? Bluebird started putting their motorhomes on the BMC (Bluebird Motor Coach) BUS chassis in 1994.
These were high speed long haul buses. This is/was a high quality unit, but similar to appearance and performance to most other bus conversion motorhomes. They had nothing in common (chassis and appearance wise) to the "classic" Bluebirds.
Prior to that, the FC and PT series Wanderlodges were on Bluebird School bus chassis. These are the old classic Bluebird Wanderlodges.

The above helps with some of the misinformation and confusion here. To expand on that see below.
First, the M380 does not share the same chassis that other late 80's, 90's and early 2000's Blue Bird Wanderlodges have. The M380 has a unique chassis and the others share a similar chassis to the Blue Bird Luxury Touring Coach (LTC) which is an over the road touring bus. The BMC was a model built by Blue Bird that had a chassis not made by Blue Bird (Freightliner, I believe). This was an attempt to build an entry level coach. They are also a good coach but not built like a Wanderlodge. Up until the later 1980's Wanderlodge shared a chassis with the large school buses.

Looked at several Bluebird resales at the Parliament Coach lot, where we had a rally last week. A beautiful 05 rig had 2 HUGE storage bays--- the front one had a warning sticker on the door MAX LOAD 200lbs, The next one back said MAX LOAD 300lbs

romarambler--
The warning stickers are referring to the TOTAL weight allowed in that vertical SEGMENT of the coach. i.e. in the bay and ABOVE the floor. Also refers to both sides-- TOTAL. So the big bay at the back (3rd bay) is the location of the galley-- fridge, freezer , pantry contents, and pots and pans dishes etc.--No way!

Not everyone is normal. I'm sure there are applications where a slideout would not be desireable,......I just can't think of one right now.

Sorry, I never thought I would say this having had a 2 slide gas and a 3 slide DP but I have to agree with Hudson69 - in a well thought out design, there is a lot to be said for no slides. I'm not sure I would want to fulltime without them but it's a blessing not to have to worry about leaks, slide toppers flapping and/or detaching, greater coach rigidity, failing motors and/or drive mechanisms and if I can drive the coach in I can live in it rather than having to estimate clearances between rocks and trees for the slides - all of which I had to contend with over the last 3 years with slides.
It's probably a lot to do with price points and age - slides on a new coach are great - on a 3-4 year old coach then they are going to get problematic.

Another point is that Blue Bird has changed the criteria for weighing and CCC. They use 2 people instead of the standard four and 1/4 water instead of full.
So-- full water and 4 people on board= overweight front axle.
