Quote: Today, a Tethered DROID does both. The DROID is connected to the GPS satellites and Internet at the same time with one USB connection. I didn't want to interfere with everyone's good time on the other thread, but even my non-multi-tasking, non-smartphone iPhone has been doing this since the day after I picked it up.

Mr. Wizard, Steve Jobs' company makes a great phone. In the US it has a semi-religious following, to his credit. They will attack anything that is a serious challenge, and at least several of them are at work on this message board. Android is a serious challenge to the apple OS. Both are going to be around for the long haul. We are going to have as much trolling about Android vs. Apple as we do about which manufacturer makes the best Class A.
Both the iPhone and Android phones had good and bad reviews at launch, but the reviews were mostly positive--that is a fact. I appreciate your early review of the Droid. Many peopele will want to hear about your experience after using it for at least a few weeks.
I don't think I've seen a moderator come under attack like you have on this message string, and I don't think you deserve it.
Take care,
Jeff

Mr. Wizard, as a Dare user, I would be very interested in your assessment of the relative merits of the Droid vs Dare, particularly as used for tethering in an RV.
Not only functionality, but cost. I have been unable to get a clear answer from the various Verizon people on the total monthly fee package. One finally told me I wouldn't know for sure until I had received my first monthly bill.
ON EDIT:.....Perhaps I am a little early to ask you about this, and should have waited until you had used it for a while and gotten a bill or two.

I really don't think they were attacks. He posted a review of the Droid and I posted my thoughts on the droid.
Now I don't have any loyalty to Verizon and I'm certainly not a member of the Verizon Customer Council where they give you phones to try. I tried to become a member, but only select people can become members and have access to try out products offered by Verizon.
Android phones will progress in the future and hopefully they will give me something I can use on Verizon. The reviews have been better for another just released Verizon phones and I'll be heading up there soon to try it out. Now if I can just get on the council, so I can swap out phones.
