friend joeb. has said it all. To repeat - most communities in Canada have libraries with wifi available ( federal subsidy, I believe). For telephone we also use a walmart prepaid phone card at pay phones.

If you just want to use your laptop at the end of the day most places in Canada have WiFi connectivity, just make sure your computer is WiFi compatible,i like it because its free.
If you need internet access while on the move a device like this Rogers Rocket Stick is the way to go but it can cost around $60 per month and uses cell phone transmitters and receivers to get the signal so i would imagine a plan with no roaming charges is what you need to work out with your provider.

Hello Iris,
I'm a Telus Mobility user, and have a wireless card that I travelled with across Canada 2 years ago. I found it extremely useful, as I work out of my motorhome 5 days a week. We will be heading to the US soon & will need a card to work down there also. I've contacted Verizon & they will mail me a card to my home in British Columbia, as long as I have an address in the U.S. as well,(so they make sure they collect one way or the other)..so we will use my sister in laws address in Phoenix as well. That way I have full time internet service wherever there is coverage (along the main routes)..you may want to look into Telus Mobility on their website to see if they can offer you that sort of set up. You can always cancel or reduce your plan once you return home. Good luck with it. Dan B.
