In these times of economic problems, the less than honest deals seem to be appearing. You can have pixs, data, etc, but I for one want to get into it, drive it and have inspected by a competent mechanic. If you go to see it, don't let the seller pick the mechanic. My alarm goes off at this time....and your new to RV's and could walk away a big loser first time out; could be the other way, but are you willing to take a chance - with your money? Good luck, Ron

It's fine to FIND a vehicle or MH on the internet, but never BUY it on the internet.

Go and look at it, drive it and get it checked out. If it's up to your expectations, only then should you hand over the check.

I did exactly this when I bought my toad last March. I'm very happy with the purchase and got it for a great price.

Here is another one. I talked to the stated owner and he is very upset that someone is using his name and listing someone else's Roadtrek. 2003 Roadtrek 170 Popular

I personally would not buy over the internet because of odors that seem to often be in used rv's of all kinds. I would have to see it and be able to do my own "sniff" test...might be odd but that is important to us. Good luck

I see you are in Michigan. There was recently a '05 Roadtrek listed on Kijiji for sale in MI. I contacted the seller and was told that the Rv was real cheap because spouse had died and owner didn't drive and wanted to get rid of it. Seller then said vehicle was in CA and if I send money they would ship it for free but I could not see it because it was ready to ship. I offered to have a relative go look at it and never got a reply. Pretty sure it was a scam. Bottom line is NEVER send any money until you have seem the vehicle and are complete satified with it.
I guess I should have read all the pervious posts. The one in Clinton Michigan is the one that I replied to.

I purchased my leisure travel van from e-bay. Flew from Pa to Fla to pick it up. All was good except seller overstated the electronics. At first glance at the airport to pick it up, I was a little disapointed then realized that it was just my nerves. The rv was 11 years old and in great shape for the age. Minor problems since but I figure that most were normal upkeep.

That is exactly what we did.... since the location was only about 5 hours away, even though we did a lot of the preliminary work to get temp insurance cards, get financing approval and put down a $500 deposit ahead of seeing it, the sale wasn't final until we drove down and inspected it for over an hour.

I have never bought a vehicle on eBay, but from what I recall looking at the ad sites, there is only a $500 deposit required until the sale is finalized, and the sale is subject to inspection.

I have been searching for 2 years for a class B Sprinter diesel no more than two years old for a price to my liking. I have monitored mostly Ebay and RV Trader. I almost bouught a new 2007 Great West Van in 2008 but the price of oil shot up to $148. a barrel and I passed on it. Used Sprinters are going for too high of a price for my liking.

Then, a month ago I found a new 2009 Winnebago ERA Limited 170 RL at K & C RV in Longmont Colorado. We made a deal that I call a "Smoking" Deal over the phone. I gave a credit card deposit of $2,000. and made arrangements to fly up the following weekend to finish the transaction and drive it to Mesa AZ. Meanwhile I checked out the dealer with the Better Business Bureau of Denver and they were solid with them.

So, on arrival they picked us up at the air port and drove us to the dealership. By the way, Denver had bad weather the weekend before and terrible weather the following two weekends, so we slid in and out in nice weather.

The ERA was spectacular, clean and ready to go. We did a pre-delivery inspection and finished the transaction which was the most pleasant of any new purchase that I have ever made.

They were really great to deal with and later they even compensated for a bad house battery, that had exceed the one year free replacement by just a few days because my local Winnebago dealer was 30 days out on service work. All in all, I bought NEW for little more than a used one would cost. Buy the way, it is a dream to drive. I am really glad that I waited out my search for the right one, SO, this started out as an Internet transaction. The bottom line is, know the product and do your research.

Happy in Mesa, AZ

I recently bought a 2005 PW Plateau from a person who had it listed on Craig’s List. I did a little investigation about this individual and determined that it would be worth our effort to fly 600 miles to look at a machine with only 4,100 miles on it. I performed a quick inspection and determined that this would be our first motor home. I paid the asking price, which was 2/3 of the original paid price and was very happy with the deal. We have put 2,00 miles on the PW and only had the oil and fuel filter replaced as a precaution. So far we simply love the machine and the older maple interior woodwork. With this oil change I had two cans of BG products DOC part #112 Diesel oil additive added which reduces friction by 30% so we are counting on increasing our mileage from 21.7 to well over 23 MPG.

Before purchasing our Falcon 190 I went to look at (2) others that were listed on ebay. Both were listed as ready to travel anywhere. One was a rust bucket with a flash paint job and tires cracked to the cord. The other was so loose in the front end that it was dangerous ay 50 mph and water soaked seats and bunk.
All I can say is be very carefuf and do your home work well. Do not trust the pictures, they may be very old or not even the same vehicle. Maybe a close resemblence to trick the eye. Remember these new cameras and photo editor can do miracles.
