For those who use a mattress topper or "egg crate" foam, do you lose the warmth of the heated mattress or is it still effective coming through the topper? Has anyone used the "egg crate" foam under the mattress? We're thinking about something like that for next year, but don't want to forego the heat from the mattress.

We have the 3" mattress topper and boy, is it ever comfortable! But you cannot feel the heat through it. I think it keeps you pretty warm anyway because it's so thick. With a down duvet cover it feels like heaven...

I have a 3" memory foam/regular foam from Walmart. Use an electric blanket. Actually more comfortable than my home bed.

In the interest of being thrifty, we were first thinking of the "egg crate" and using it under the mattress. We find our mattress pretty comfy and not sure we want to invest in the Memory Foam - even though everyone who has one seems to love it. Also considering if the "egg crate" would do anything to help decrease the condensation on the deck. It was pretty chilly and we used the mattress heaters and still had some moisture, even with our Hypervent. Seems that when we use the mattress heater, we have more moisture on the deck - makes sense. Just thinking about next spring and what, if anything, we want to do.
And, I'm not excited about the storage issue of either. We use the ROO in the evening a lot just to relax and having this monster roll of foam in the way doesn't appeal to me.

I have a 3" memory foam topper and when it was chilly we used the heated mattress and could feel the heat. One night with my granddaughter we forgot to turn it on and it was really chlly!

the few times we've had hookups, we were able to feel the heated mattress even with the egg crate and 1" foam topper.
but we use sheets instead of a sleeping bag.
i'm thinking of putting a foam topper or egg crate under the mattress for the condensation issue.
has anyone tried that?

bikendan, that's pretty much what we're thinking. We already have the $$Hypervent. While it is an improvement, it's not a fix for condensation on the deck. We've always been just fine with our regular mattress, but since my shoulder surgery I have some problems. We thought that the "egg crate" on top of the Hypervent, should surely insulate better and then the heated mattress on top of the "egg crate" would give some extra cushion and we could still have the warmth of the heated mattress. Makes sense to us, but that doesn't always mean it'll work. Anyone?
PS We usually set the heated mattress to #3 - toasty, but not too hot.
