Heading out this week for several days in Oregon and was planning on the The Dalles and Biggs areas, but my 88 y/o aunt who's going with me wants to go to the dunes in this bad weather. So I need to know what's the best area to go to from Portland. I have spent a lot of time on the coast, but it was mostly eating and wine tasting, etc.I was thinking of the Florence-Reedsport area and would drop down to Eugene and across there.
Are there better area's to go to where we can easily access both the beach and the dunes.
A word about my 88 y/o aunt as per her qualifications for travel.. Last year it was Puerto Rico and Ethiopia,a couple of years ago it was a weavers tour to Nepal,Mongolia (o'nites in yurts on the steppes) and I know she can still out walk me.

Now,after reading a couple of articles about the coast,it looks as if we may just head to Winchester Bay and stay at the Marina...But then who knows...

Pacific City has nice dunes and an RV park right across from them.

We just returned from Winchester Bay... It was great. Don't forget oysters from the oyster farm - they are wonderful!
