DW and I stopped the other day for breakfast. The food was brought, hot, and good. I looked at the receipt and they had listed my breakfast and included the tax. They then listed DW's breakfast and included her tax. They then added the two together and added an additional tax on both meals.
We paid for the meals separately and saved $1.96.

Suggest you all start watching the receipts to see if you are paying extra.

I have heard of "creative accounting", but that is ridiculous!
Seems to me it is a little more than "double tax"; If, in fact, they taxed each meal separately, then added it up, and taxed the total, you were paying taxes on the taxes, too.
That's just wrong.
Send a copy of the receipt to the State Tax Board, and see what they say.

Are you saying that there is a double tax at the Rainbow Bridge?

My guess is you weren't paying double tax. Either somebody programmed the cash register wrong and they were collecting too much by mistake, or somebody programmed the register that way on purpose to rip you off.

That kind of depends, doesn't it? If the ticket was hand-written, then the person at the register usually just enters the total, assuming it was added correctly, etc.

To me, it sounds like a GREAT way for the restaurant to make some extra money, without most folks noticing!

Why don't you call them on it ? If you noticed while at the resturant you should've asked, or call and ask what's the deal. It would be nice to hear their explanation.
