We're about a month away from crossing the MX border and I'm still dragging my feet making a decision on the RV & auto insurance. Got info and quotes from Xavier and Lewis & Lewis. Both seem comparable.
Does anyone have input from personal experience? We need full coverage on the car and liability only on the RV (covered by Progressive). Obviously, I don't want to deal with either at the claims end. But I must be realistic.
Thanks in advance.

I received a payout from Lewis & Lewis (which is Qualitas in Mexico). They took a long, long time...but they did pay out to my satisfaction.

You may also want to check out the quotes from the travel club sources I list in my sticky on Mexico Insurance at the top of this forum. You have to join the travel club to get the insurance but you can get the quotes for free. And the clubs aren't expensive

Second the vote re San Xavier & Mexico Bob. Had a payout on the toad a few years back with no problems or delays.

Get comp and collision coverage form a US company that provides Mexico Coverage. It will pay US repair rates and even pay to return the vehicle to the US if needed. Try Progressive or National interstate from Explorer agency.
Try here for liability. Not just for caravans-----http://adventurecaravans.com/tours/tour-insurance.asp.
Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

Not sure about National Interstate, but Progressive will only cover RV's in Mexico, not toads.
So you still need to get full coverage on your toad.

I got National Interstate coverage on my pickup and trailer. Start date was just prior to entering Mexico. Canceled it immediately on leaving. They refunded all premium except for days used. Cost me about $5 a day.

I have used Xavier (Mexico Bob) & Don Smith. Never had a claim on either. Don Smith was a bit cheaper & I used them when I could not find mexico Bobs office in Nogales. I had insured it with him by mail in previous years?
