My daughter told me that night before last she woke up to find her husband "running in place" beside her in bed. She looked and he had his left arm extended and the cat tucked firmly against his belly with his right arm, happily dreaming that he was back in a college football game. She said thank heavens he didn't dream somebody yelling, "throw deep!"

We have a male and female cat that are brother and sister from the same litter of 7. We have had them for about 5 years and we have never seen them on any kitchen counters or dining table or coffee table. The male sleeps on the sofa and the female sleeps on the dryer. DW believes they dont climb where they are not allowed so one night I put baby powder on the kitchen counters before we went to bed. The next morning there were paw prints on EVERYTHING. The dining table, coffee table, stove, fridge, end tables, computer desk, everywhere. But there the little angels were, him on the sofa and her on the dryer yawning and stretching and acting like they had been there all night.

1. My sister used to have a cat who, any time the loaf of bread was left out, he would take it to the closet, and shred it - bag and all, all over her shoes.

2. I had a cat that was 15 years old when I married. He worked nights and would get home about 5 am. I was still in college at the time, so I would leave for school and be home around noon. The minute my car hit the driveway, the cat would climb onthe bed and box my DH's ears to wake him up to let him know I was home.

When I was little we lived in a house with an old fashioned wood-framed screen door with the long spring to keep it closed. When our cat wanted to come in, he would hook his claws in the screen and slam the screen door a few times. If no one got there quick enough he would climb the screen and hang there at eye level. No matter how many times it happened, it was still a shock to open the door and see a big cat flattened up against the screen in front of your face.

Same door here, but my cat can open it from the inside or outside, LOL

We had one of those screen door banging kitties, too, my Romeo. The first time he did it, it sounded like a big ol' angry man was at the door. Scared me to death and my first thought was, "What have our kids done now?"

DW has spoiled one of our female cats to the point that all day long Pudgy (Bombay kitty) roles over and over like a dog will do, chirping and chirping until DW says "oh your so sweet...you need your treat" and off to the laundry room where litter boxes, food tray and treats are stored. And following quickly behind are the other two cats that have benefited from this. All 3 kitties get thier "tweeters" and they are called.

I figured out real quick that no bread, crackers, or such was safe left on the counter with Deuce in the house. One night after he had been with us for about ten days or so, I heard something in the hall. I woke my husband up and said "Do you hear that? It's odd but it sounds like plastic rustling." We lay there for a few minutes and heard it again. He got up to investigate and there was Deuce with about 1/2 a loaf of bread and what was left of the bag at the end of the hall. He was having a big time pouncing on it, tearing the plastic wrapper up and eating some of the bread. There was bread from that brand new loaf scattered in the kitchen, the living room, entry way and down the hall. He could be a little stinker but it's such a sweet memory now. Gosh I miss him!

We had a cat that would sit on top of the front door if it was left open. On nice days we leave the wooden doors in the front and back open so that the breeze can come in through the screen/storm doors. Sandy would climb on top of a chair near the front door and jump up on top of it. She would lay with two legs on each side, straddling the door. It couldn't have been comfortable but she could stay there happily for hours. She loved being perched up high, watching the world go by. Of course this was when she was young, while we were living in Texas. If you forgot she was up there and started to shut the door she would let out a LOUD "shreeeeek!!" to let you know she needed a minute to get down. Believe me the noise she made would get your attention! LOL

Our cat Sam, sealpoint Siamese that we had for 16 years while our kids were growing up, learned that he could open a cabinet door on an antique dresser. Must be a thousand times he jumped up there and opened it, just to be disappointed every time that nothing of feline interest was within. I regret that I didn't even once put a nice halibut or something in there to surprise him.

My sister's cat was living at Mom's house for awhile. Mom could not figure out why the dresser drawer was open -- daily. Mom never left anything untidy.

One night we both walked into her bedroom to see a gray tail disappear into the dresser.

Turns out the little stinker could open the drawer and went in daily for a nice nap on Mom's clean and plush sweaters.

Sweet dreams, Kitty.
