LOL... this is a hoot. 90% of the time I camp pursuant to working out of my camper. During the week, if you see a man in a coat and tie leaving and returning to a camper, that could be me. During the evening and weekends, I could be in jeans, sweats, or shorts, depending on the weather and where I'm camped. I haul it all with me, as I could be in FL for Christmas and NY a week after New Years.

The only specialty items I have, if you want to call them that, are a pair of waterproof hiking boots and shower shoes.

Suits are conservative, in the $500 range. I like the J.C. Penney Executive shirts with a stylish power tie. My casual kick around stuff comes from Walmart or Target. I need to dress for success at work. However, when I'm back at the camper, fashion is neither a concern or a love. I don't have to impress anyone or "look" the part.

Of course, I don't begrudge anyone's decision to match fashion with the camping experience. There's a lot of weekend duffers on the golf course every Saturday dressed just like Tiger Woods. That doesn't make them better golfers, you understand. But they sure look good.

Oh, BTW... All my kids are grown and are capable of making their own fashion decisions.

Travel safe!

I buy my cargo pants at Sam's Club, my boots from Famous Footwear and anything else special for camping or hunting about 90% from Cabelas Bargain Cave if I can't find it cheaper on some web site.

Hmm, maybe that's why the camping neighbors were looking at us funny, didn't realize we had to wear clothes.

We just wear what we normally wear, unless it's cold, then I wear a sweatshirt, I hate long sleeves, they get in my way while working. But if it keeps me warm while camping then so be it.

We outfit our kids in garage sale/thrift store clothes that we will not be upset about getting absolutely ruined. As in put-them-in-the-trash ruined. They know that they can get as dirty as they want, and neither DH nor I will care. (they also know they will have to strip naked outside before entering the camper if they are that dirty!) I will never pay retail prices for clothing I dress my kids in for camping. If we need to go into "town" for sightseeing, groceries, whatever, we clean the kids up and dress them in the "town clothes" that we keep in the camper solely for going to town. Sounds like Little House on the Prairie, doesn't it?

As for us adults, it's usually jeans and T-shirts, along with an ample supply of layering pullovers, jackets, mittens, hats, and waterproof footwear for all of us. We've used every bit of it while camping. Ever dug clams when it's 40 degrees, windy and raining? We went thru tons of clothes that trip!

In the morning, it will be me, under the awning, with sleep pants & t-shirt & house shoes(slippers).

In the afternoon, it will be me, under the awning, with jeans/shorts & t-shirt & sandals/house shoes.

In the evening, it will be me, under the awning, with my sleep pants, t-shirt & house shoes. At anytime after 1200 hours you are likely to find me with a glass full of Tennessee's finest export and Diet Pepsi.

If I have a "formal occasion" going to town, etc. I will try and make sure the clothes match as best as possible. They rarely do.

I leave my good stuff at home and keep my "knock around" stuff in the TT>

Can't say that I have "camping" clothes. My hubby and I certainly have light weight, wicking, quick dry, or thermals appropriate for things like hiking, skiing, snowboarding, cycling, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, rock climbing. We're true outdoors people and when we hit the outdoors, not just kickin' up our feet eatin' hot dogs, we dress for it. Otherwise, we're a couple of scrub wearing RN's.
I recommend backcountryoutlet.com or sierra trading post for sale priced gear.

T shirts, jeans and sweat shirts. I have been thinking of a vest with lots of pockets but do not know what I would do with it when I get too warm hiking. The sweat shirt gets tied around my waist.
Lots of layers for cold mornings.

I never heard of anything so ridiculous as "dressing for camping". That is way overboard. Wear what you wanna wear with comfort in mind.
