We used to love to visit Sanibel Island in the winter but then it started to get so crowded and the traffic would be lined up for a mile or more trying to get across the bridge to the island. This was in the months of Jan. and Feb. I don't know about the rest of the year but those two months were terrible!

I still remember talking to the guy that had the hot dog truck at the beach parking lot on Sanibel every winter. He had the monopoly on that since he was the only vendor allowed there. His name was David and he first visited Sanibel back in the early 60s while on spring break one year and he never went back home to NJ except for a wedding one time he said. He only works during the winter and takes the rest of the year off. He bought his property back when it was dirt cheap. I don't think you can buy property anymore there. Seems like I read that they weren't allowing any more buildings to be built there either. I guess they plan for it to eventually go back to it's natural state someday.

There are lots of properties for sale on Sanibel and they do have strict building codes.

We have a permanent site for our motorhome at Periwinkle Park and will be there in about 2 weeks.

We're at Periwinkle from December 21 to January 10. It has been our regular place Xmas / New Years place for many years now. Have you been there before?

This latest visit for Thanksgiving was a little cooler than we would have liked. Shelling was not good but the Peel & Eat Shrimp with a pitcher of beer at the Lazy Flamingo was as good as ever. Still had a great time. We'll be there again for the Christmas holiday. Don't want to miss Santa in the end loader!
