I am now looking at the installation of a Lube Pump for my vehicle to enable it to be towed behind the coach.

What is the experience of travelers with an abundance of experience I lack, sorely?

Thank you

Not my experience but a close friends experience
Had the Remco lube pump on a auto tranny car and it failed. He finished his trip by letting the car idle. No damage, no problem.
Next installater was on his wifes Lexus. Pump failed and he did the same thing, let the car idle for the remainder of the trip.....but that didn't work on a Lexus, tranny failed and had to be rebuild....not a cheap rebuild either. He now tows a standard shift that is towable without modifications.

We've been towing a '96 Crown Vic with the Remco for 3 years with no problems. Probably have put in excess of 10000 miles on it.

It's easy to use. Gezzer will have another one installed in the event we get a different vehicle.

I think finding a qualified installer helps.

Safe travels

Probably over 10K miles with NO problems. I've read of a couple of problems here but the majority of stuff I have read has been positive. I also carry a spare pump and pressure switch. I opine that the majority of problems that happen are due to install.

Suggest you consider a towable car that does not need any modification.

No problems in 7 years towing CAMRY. With SENSOR set up with New Lube Pump I see no problems. When Pump stops pumping you will KNOW it when the SENSOR alarm goes off. JMO

Kind of the same with a friend/club member. Pump failed, alarm didn't work, trans failed. Remco wouldn't even warranty the pump, let alone pay for the damage.

We have over 25,000 miles in the past 4 years towing a PT Cruiser with the Remco pump, no problems. Strongly second the motion that a qualified installer is needed. I think the number of problem pumps is relatively small compared to the total number installed. If there's any way to get your rigs to Omaha, might consider having Remco do the install themselves.

Where may I find a list of towable cars? I understand standard shift is towable, does that mean all standard shifts including front w d?

I have used Remco pumps for 10 years without any problems.
I had my first pump go over 140K before it gave up. Even than it wasn't the pump, it was the control box. I now have it as a spare pump.
As to failure, ie alarm not going off to alert you to a problem.
You have (2) alarm systems one is the buzzer, theother is the green light turns to RED. It is highly unlikely that both will fail at the same time.
You do have to do maintance on the wireing on a regular basis.
I have 6 prong plug. Routine maintance is to clean both the male and female ends and spread the prongs on the male plug. They will close up (over time and use) and cause you to lose contact.
Depending on where you drive and conditions, clean all slip plug electrical conections. Corosion on electrical contacts can cause a problem.
I'll have a remco pump on my next toad.
