I'm not going to say where I was, because it could have been anywhere, but here is my question to the forum.

How much would your max bid be on a public auction for a Class A that you could not personally see. I had the opportunity yesterday to go to a lot that I have seen many times posted on this forum, plus I myself have watched intently.

Let's just say that when I go to sell my rig, I want this place to take the pictures. When I was asked what I was looking for I told the person that I'm looking for a good deal on a early 2000-04 DP, with two slides. They then told me that a couple of years ago I might have gotten a deal, but now people are bidding way too much.

So the question is how much is max bid on an "AS IS" rig. I now would not go over 70% of low NADA (no options) on a sight unseen rig. Even if I had it inspected (unless maybe I had prior business with the RV inspector.)

Another way to get a value and also find out your pain threshold, is to call your bank and/or one of the national RV lenders and find out what they will loan YOU for the RV.

How much can you afford to lose? Once you get it, can you afford to spend the money necessary to get it to a safe and usable condition? How much will you have to spend to be able to sell it and recoup your investment?
If you can't answer these questions exactly, than you shouldn't bid on it.

The daughter of some friends sells a bunch of trailers on ebay. She cleans, repairs, puts in furniture if needed. She sells all over the ****ry. Most people come and pick up but she once shipped a TT to Australia. The buyer sold it and wants another. This is her business, not a hobby and she is not an RVer.FWIW.

$0.00

I agree 100%. "AS IS" means exactly that and regardless of how it is described...or how many photo's you can look at it STILL leaves the door wide open to be total junk!!! and your money is "adios"

AS IS are the key words here. as is, is just that a pile of junk possibly. buyer beware, I think those words mean there is something is seriously wrong with the unit. For all you know a tree fell through the roof. if you offer to take it off their hands, have them pay you, it may save you some money.

If you are buying used they are all AS-IS, now at least if you get to see it physically not just through pictures that helps some. If you have it inspected by an independent inspector that you trust can all add assurance. However even from a dealer they are still AS-IS, now if you can prove the dealer knew about an issue and didn't disclose it it then in some states you may have recourse.
