Hi all,
I have a question regarding having your slides out. Do you have to have the rig perfectly level? We bring our 5er home from time to time if we have alot of family in town. I can get the rig within a half bubble but it's not perfect. The fridge works and all but I don't want to do any damage to the curb side slides. Any and all help would be great! Thanks

I would say half a bubble is close enough.

i have put the slides out when 6" (approx.) out of level end to end and 3" or so side to side when hooked to the truck. i'm not saying you should, just saying i have and had no problems. i think my manufaturer says not to unless you have the landing gear down but to get to stuff inside the camper at times while on the road, i do what i need to.

I try to put the landing gear down before putting out the slides but often do it when out of level with no ill effects. We always put out the main slide for lunch and it is often very unlevel. I never feel or sense a problem with no landing gear down.

I have on many occasions extended when we weren't very level and it's never caused me any problems with my Rockwood. The main reason you want things level is the fridge and your own comfort and as long as you're THAT close you're not going to hurt your slides. If there is ANY issue here it's probably that you need to be EVEN rather than level. Parking on a hill and extending would hurt nothing but putting one axle on a hump with the other lower, putting a big twist in the rame would be more apt to cause problems.

What bugs me is when you pull into a site, get'r level, put the jacks down tight and then run the slides out.. Annddd, guess what, you're about 1-2" off level with them out. I even tried putting heavy jack stands under the left side and it still torques the level..Bummer

I try to put the slide side a little higher than the non slide side. Of course I only have 2 and both are on the same side. Seems to level out when the slides are then extended.

My procedure is to leave the slide side slightly high with slide still in, then lower stabilizers on the slide side only. Then I extend the slide and lower the non-slide side stabs. Rig comes out pretty level. Having said all that, I have been a half bubble off on occasion and have suffered no ill effects.
