We just purchased a '99 Fleetwood Tioga 24D. The microwave is loose, and somewhat warped. Where can I go to buy a new one, and can we install it ourselves? Also, any ideas on what brand is good, but reasonable? This is our first rv, so any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!

mtrain,
If it is only 'loose', find a way to make it secure (assuming it works OK). Add some 'spacers' or fill strips to make it secure.
What we did when our MW failed was to remove it, measure the opening and then go shopping for a better quality one that would fit in the opening. Yes, SIZE matters!! We did find a great one at a good price at SAM's Club, but it was about 1.5 inches too wide! BUMMER! We ended up at another discount appliance store and they had one that would fit just right in the opening. That was our choice!! But I still needed to secure it properly in the space.

Yes watch size. One other point. Ours was fully enclosed in a cabinet. Thus MW needed to be the kind that had front vents. So be very careful of venting if enclosed. We finally bought at Camping World to get exact fit with top and bottom venting to front of MW.

I bought my MH in June 09 I am the third owner. the last two owners were "do it yourselfers". The microwave I have must be a home model because one of them put an Emerson MW in and strapped it down with a truckers load strap. he put pads in between the strap and MW, a small plate at the ledge on the front, on the sides there is a space of about 1 inch. on top a 3 inch space covered by a piece of plastic (diamond grid style) that has diamond shaped holes for ventilation. ive been in some rough terrain, squeaky turns and some interesting grades( my atlas and gps did not tell me I was going straight up!)and yet my MW did not pop out to say hello. and i have plenty of ventilation in the back. your local hardware store may give you some ideas. is it hardwired or plug in? I am not suggesting load straps , yet there are cheap solutions to the problem. good luck!

Mine went south also, so, I seen a real deal at Frys Electronics, only problem, it was 2" to deep, it also is a convection oven, I thought if I got it I could do away with my oven which we only use for a storage area. I bought it, took the cabinets down and made a new cabinet to accept the new microwaved, and took the oven out, got a stove top and made a cabinet where the oven was, now we have a lot more storage area.
