Just got my letter from Ford to have the switch replaced on my 2000 F550 super duty. They are so backed up my appointment isn't until December 3. They say it takes about 40 minutes and one can wait!
After having the truck all this time they now say don't patk in a building and advise me to keep it away from buildings!

I thought the recall was for the cruse control wires with the them getting hot and the possability of a fire.
I dont see what there statement "dont patk in a building and advise me to keep it away from buildings! "
For me to be so lucky to have my truck burn down because of a recall issue.

If it is anything like my old 1995 F150 I used to have, it took all of 5 minutes to switch out. BUT....they disconnected mine for 6-8 months prior until the new unit was ready for install. When I went in for the repair, they were mad I was 5 minutes late, so they wanted me to leave. Guy ended up doing it in the parking lot...and again...it took about 5 minutes.

It took about 5 minutes in the write up lane & no apptment at our dealer. It is a piece of wire with two fuses to blow so if fluid drips it will break the circuit so it can't cause a fire so I was told.

Same recall for both, this has been going on for years. Not a fix but a way to stop the fire from happening. If the fuzes work right.

Unless this is for the ORIGINAL recall not the latest one, you are correct. The install takes only a few minutes and is only to add a fused section of wire to the harness. None of the vehicles in the latest recall have ever reported any problems but the DO share some parts with the ones recalled earlier that DID report some incidents.

I just had my 99 done and it was a drive in and wait about twenty minutes and be on your way. That included them pulling the truck in and then parking it back on the lot.

Same for us on time, just drove in and drove out in 10 or so minutes. It took them longer to write it up. I didn't even leave the service writer bay. Call some of the smaller dealers around you.

I just kept hooking it back up each morning until they got the part. I unhooked it at the end of the day.

They just gave me the piece of wire with the fuses, and let me sign for it. Took it home, lowered hood, installed wire, took about two minutes. Didn't even move MH from driveway.

I've got my TC lock-up and exhaust brake control module wired through my cruise control circuits....wonder how this affects things.
