I have to replace the cheapie foam that comes in the dinette seats of most trailers 'cuz it's pretty well smooshed out after 4 years. I went to two local shops and they want over $250 to replace the two seat bottoms with heavy density foam and that's only the foam.
What I'd like to do is to replace them with ones like we saw in a couple of MHs that we were looking and they were an upholstered seat with springs and padding, but I can't find any listings for them..
HELP !!!!

In Silverdale, WA you can call the Furniture Medic toll free at:
1-866-433-3061

I'm sure they can make you the custom seat cushions you are looking for or direct you to someone who can.

Good luck!

My other question was that I wanted to know where I can find the spring type dinette seats...I think that one of the manufacturers that use them is Georgetown, but they don't list them..

I recently did this and can't remember the online company I used, but I would recommend getting the grade and density just below the super firm commercial grade stuff. I got that and man that is firm, but hopefully over time will soften up some. Mine was a greenish in color and recommended for things line church pew seats and other commercial applications and at 4" thick is really firm. I think a high density grade extra firm would be fine.

Foam comes in all sorts of qualities and densities. This is a do-it-yourself project for sure.

Foam can be really expensive, but it cuts easily with a electric knife and is easy to do if you take your time…

To make it easier to get into the cover, you can put it in a light weight plastic bag and vaccume some of the air out of it… I know people that have left the bag on so if something spills it only wets the cover for easy clean-up…

Larry, if you plan on keeping your rig for a while I think you will be glad you got the extra firm, but I don‘t know if it will ever get soft…

the XL-48 from buyfoam.com comes to about $50 and that's $200 less than having it done locally.

Irish,the second one didn't work..

I love the idea about the plastic bag too.I do think it's a tad bit of a job for my food processor. I did, however, get the hose attachment for a cannister and I know you can buy those big bags for storing clothes in..Wow,youse folks are awesome.

Sorry about the second link, I don’t know where I got that from and obviously filed it wrong…

If you do it your self, you should wrap the foam with batting to round and soften the edges some… I guess its important because the pros do it that way…

The bags I have seen used were real light weight, like trash bags, so any wrinkles in the plastic can’t be seen in the cover… while I have seen it done, I can’t say it is the best way to do it, but it seemed like a good idea to me, especially because the guy had three small kids…

I like the vacuum bag idea, too, but you wouldn't use bulky storage bags, just regular trash bag and rubber bands.

I've made new cushions and covers for my wrought-iron porch furniture, twice. If you can find a knit fabric, that will simplify the installation. Some of it is even made in tubes. Or roll up the cover (or turn it inside out) and then gradually unroll it as you install it, like putting on pantyhose.
