I played the ST Tire game. went from D to E rated Maxxis. Rims ratings are important. Do not exceed the rim rating. Most steel rims are rated up to 75 PSI. I had issues with my first set of upgraded 15" rims that led to 2 tire failures. I quit the ST game and upgraded to 16" LT tires and 16" 80 PSI aluminum rims. Finally solved my tire issues. My TT weighs 9500-10K loaded.

I changed from Duro's (puuuuk) LR D's to Maxxis LR E and had to do alott of calling & emailing to find out the PSI ratings of the factory rims as they had no stamps or labels of their PSI raitngs. Was told they (thought) were only rated for 65 PSI since they came with D's so to be on the safe side I went to the heavier rim. So far all is well in tire & wheel land. JMO... wife says if doesn't count most of the time ...but oh well I gave it anyway!

Keep in mind a tire at max sidewall pressures will run much cooler than a tire that is run 20+ (65 psi) prercent underinflated on a 11000 GVWR trailer. I wouldn't use 65 psi in a 80 psi tire espesially on a trailer that heavy.
As Lantley says many 15" steel wheel are rated to 75 psi. The E tires should be fine at 75 as psi will increase 5 psi easily at highway speeds.
I had the same size/load range issue with my 5er in sig. I don't/won't use trailer tires so I upgraded to 16" LT E load range.

Welcome to the "no more tire problems" tire club I went through the same "blow out" tire experiences (5 blow outs total) after I bought a new trailer. A Good Year engineer recommended I switch from my Marathon tires to the Good Year LT "G"-647 E rated tire. I would have gone to the "G" rated tire but there was not enough room in the tire well. That was 9 years ago and without 1 single tire problem since . I keep trying to figure out why RV industry doesn't catch on and put better and safer tires on RV's/ trailers to begin with. But, probably the most important issue and reason is the greater margin of safety and peace of mind. I understand "trying to save a few dollars" by the industry but is it worth all the negative consumer reactions, opinions and potential legal liability from having tires blow out and damaging RV's/trailers??????

Seem to have some trouble locating st225/75 r15 tires and rims. any ideas? not sure if I go to a 16 where there are more choices how much that would raise the TT height.

I also had a Forest River with Tow Masters. I had 3 blow outs and 4 flats all in the first year of buying it. I have now switched to Maxxis.
