We have been informed that Citi Bank mastercard will no longer give us a cash rebate except on dining, air travel and lodgings. Does anyone know which one would be the best one to switch to that includes food, gas, etc. Thank you

If you qualify, Pen-Fed Credit Union is good. 5% back per dollar spent on the purchase of gas and diesel paid for at the pump. 1 or 1 1/2% back on all other purchases.

We use as one of our cards the Kroger (store) 123 rewards master card. When you buy l00.00 of groceries you get 15 cent of every gallen of fuel. In our area they also have diesel. Works great if you are near a store with fuel.

+1 Getting 5% back on diesel ALL THE TIME is tough for anyone to match. If anyone else has a better deal, I'd love to hear it.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, you don't have to do anything to get your cash back. It is deducted each month from your balance.

Additional credit card fee regulations are likely to be implemented by the government which is why many of the rewards programs are being cut back or eliminated. Look to see many many more of these so-called "free perks" to be discontinued. Many merchants are fed up with being charged higher discount fees which cover the costs of these programs and are exerting pressure on the government for some regulation in this area.

In some respects, these programs are a redistribution of wealth as everyone who purchases products pays higher product prices so a select few can reap special consideration.

I'm still getting cash back on my Amex Bus Cashback card..3% on gas, restaurants and office supplies, 1% on everything else. It used to be 5% but they dropped it back a couple of years ago. I've still made over $1000 back so far this year.
