I have add a canoe to our camping equipment, Old Town Pathfinder, really looking forward to giving it a try. It has been years since I have paddle a canoe but I remember the fun as much as the work. If you see and old man going round and round in a canoe stop by and talk I will need the rest and help.

Don't forget to add a life jacket to the list. We need all the old men we can get.

Thanks, I have several life jackets and plan for every one in the boat to use one.

How do you haul it with you? I've wanted to get a canoe to take with us, but there is no room for it in or on the rig (we don't have a ladder).

Good choice - my brother works for Old Town canoe in ME. I've had the privilege of seeing behind the scenes of their factories and facilities in Old Town. They make some great stuff. Enjoy!

Mickeyfan, Thanks for the encouragement I did a lot of web searching before I bought and Old Town seem like the best choice.

Might be a little late for this post. Our tow vehicle is a 2003 Silverado. We installed a front mounted 2" receiver hitch and use a goal post rack inserted in the hitch. We then have one roof rack attached to the vehicle, and carry up to three kayaks. Loading and unloading is accomplished without a ladder by sliding on and off from the front. The rack even has a receiver as well so we are also able to use a bike rack up front at the same time when needed.
