Today I spent 5 hours installing a 30A RV recepticle on the house... no more loading the trailer with it being 100+ degrees. For approx. $150 dollars, this was the ticket... I highly recomend for others to do the same.

I had a local guy do mine as a side job. I had a welder plug at the front of my garage that was broken and I would never use. He tapped into one leg of that (was two 30 amp breakers tied together) and put a junction box in so he could extend the wiring to where I wanted it, on the outside of my garage. Installed a box, plug, even had him install a motion light inside my garage. All for $100. Like you said, well worth it.

Glad you got it done. It is a one time cost might still be working fine 25 years from now.

If you are going to do this please make sure you understand the basics of RV electrical systems. The 30 amp is 110 V AC, not a 220 V AC like some old dryer outlets were wired. Here is a link that shows how to do it.
RV 30 Amp
When the site comes up, click on 30 amp on the upper left side of the web site.
Better to be safe than sorry.

You spent $150? For what? I put one on a post 50 feet from the house for far less.

I installed a dedicated 30 amp 120 volt outlet on the outside wall of my garage. It cost me less than $100.00 because I am electrically savy enough to do it myself. It would cost considerably more if a qualified electrician is reqired. Ed

$30 for the box w/ RV recepticle
$40 for the 12g wire
$45 for the conduit and fasteners (and other related stuff)
$30 for the 30A breaker
Had to run it from the back of the house to out front...

When I bring the RV home I plug it into the regular household AC and all seems well. The AC cools as normal also. I have never had it running the AC and the fridge at the same time, whcih is what I assume you will be doing when you mention "loading the trailer".
Next house mod for you is a sewer connection in the ground ... unless you already have one. Some use the waste macerator so that they can dump in the closest toilet. That might be cheaper and is mobile.
