Looking for RV park and boat info on/near Texas Gulf coast between Corpus Christi and the TX/LA state line.
Want park that will accommodate two TVs with trailers, 40' 5er & 20' boat.
Park water policy must permit daily boat & motor rinsing/flushing.
Can dry camp but much prefer 50A full hookup.
Must be close to public access boat ramp with parking.
A plus if ramp has boat & motor rinsing/flushing facilities.
BIG plus if park has its own boat ramp.
ANY & all info much appreciated!
Including info about Gulf fish & fishing. All our salt water fishing experience is an annual New England party boat trip back in the 60s & 70s.

A good one for fishing is Matagorda Bay Nature Park -- http://www.lcra.org/parks/developed_parks/matagorda.html
There is a nice boatramp up the road next to the River Bend restaurant plus you are not far from the Matagorda harbor which has a fantastic fish cleaning area.
If first time fishing down here, I advise getting a guide and letting him show you about.
A couple of good guides for Matagorda are:
Bill Pustejovsky - http://www.matagordabay.com/guides/Pustejovsky.htm
Charlie Paradoski - http://www.captcharlieparadoski.com/
Good luck - sounds like a fun trip

I can't, I'm not at all familiar with the area. Have been to Corpus Christi once, 10-12 years ago. Been to South Padre once and that's a bit farther than DW wants to travel.
We've got one of those big Trailer Life campground guides but it doesn't tell the kind of boat & fishing info we need. We've done some www searching but it's frustrating and time-consuming. Hoping to get info from people who've been there and done it.

Last year I stayed at Hidden Oaks campground in Lamar, TX. It is just a few miles into Rockport/Fulton Texas. It is close to Goose Island State park and very close to Copano Bay. Saw lots of fishing there. I don't know about boat ramps but I am sure if you contact some of the campgrounds in that area, they would be more than happy to answer your questions.

What you want is here, you just have to pick it out. IMHO you should come on down to the coastal bend and look for a place from Matagorda to Port Mansfield. Just follow Tx highway 35 along the coast. There are hundreds of parks that meet your requirements, you just need to find the one you like best.
The fishing is GREAT. With a 20 ft boat you will want to fish the bays and ocasionaly go into the Gulf on good days. There are 5 major bays with many smaller estuarys from Matagorda Bay to Baffin Bay that are tied together by the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Laguna Madre. There are many piers and jetties in and next to parks along the coast where the fishing is very productive for offshore fish. My favorite is surf fishing in Padre Island National Seashore and kayak/wade fishing in all the bays using my 19 ft CC boat to get from place to place quickly. Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Black Drum, and even Grey and Mangrove Snapper are waiting so come on down.
Happy Travels,

Try a PLATINUM SITE at THIS PARK for the room you will need. $$$ probably <350 a month.. I would suggest calling The Palms to double check if those sites are large enough. Also, the management is fantastic and the park could be full.
Each site has two water spigots, one for potable water and the other is well water and the management has no problem with washing on sites.
Boat Ramps <10 minutes from park dump you into Redfish Bay which connects to Corpus Christi Bay and the GOM. If unfamiliar with these waters I would recommend having good GPS/Sonar/Mapping electronics because at 30mph, these waters get really SKINNY - really FAST. Hiring a guide wouldn't be a bad idea - there's lots of water in the area. Lots of "restricted" or "closed" areas for Oysters so watch out if so inclined. From my experience, the waters Redfish North are better fishing than waters CC Bay and South.
Catch a Redfish for me will ya?

BTW, what type of boat do you have? Flat = good, Deep = bad. Might effect some of the advice you're getting.

Tracker Targa, deep V that draws about a foot with me & DW, something less than 2 feet to outboard skeg. Almost any fishing platform would've been okay for me. Got V primarily for family, skiing & tubing, but also had it at the back of my mind to make annual trip to the Gulf and from decades ago experience boating/sailing Gulf of Maine don't feel a johnboat is something I'd want to take offshore (even though "offshore" would be maybe as far as 3 miles from the beaches).

Depth of your boat is similar to my wellcraft. Most bays have depth of 8 to 12 feet but there are lots of shallows too. Gulf ICW is 12 feet average all the way from New Orleans to Brownsville. You will need to buy charts of where you are so you know where the shallow places are. NOAA charts of the ICW show a complete depth picture of all the bays and Top Spot fishing maps do a pretty good job also plus showing the best spots to fish and all the marinas and launching ramps. Anyone who tells you they have never gone aground in the bays has not motored or sailed the bays.
You will have no problem taking your deep v short distances offshore when there is light wind. I fish the oil platforms that are nearby but you have to get used to the boats motion and make sure your rig will get you home safely.
