Why does someone pick the site right next to mine when there are many similar sites available with space between them. Not only does it block my view, but seems odd to want to be forced to see and hear others when there is plenty of room to allow space between each other. What am I missing?

LOL it is that same strange phenomena when you are in a restroom with 30 empty stalls, and someone picks the one right beside you, or in a cafe that is almost empty, but a family of eight picks the table right beside you.

I have never understood it myself since I never do it, but apparently many feel COMPELLED to be near others. LOL Sorry they did it to ya man! I have had it happen to me too, and I am like seriously? WHY?

I always wondered the same thing until someone explained to me that most people are so used to living a matter of feet from their neighbours house that they are just uncomfortable with space and need to be close to someone to feel content. It ends up being a real problem for people that enjoy some space.

Not to jack the thread, but to add to the frustration.... What about when you park at the farthest spot in a parking lot and walk to the store, and come out and the only vehicle for miles is RIGHT BESIDE YOURS? For you peeps that are reading this and wonder why my truck is parked ALL BY ITSELF, at the opposite end of the parking lot, it's to avoid damage that you seemingly create when you open your door into mine. GRRR!

Even more, why does the RV park host or office assign somebody the site right next to you when 1/2 the park is empty? That seems even more prevalent than people choosing a site next door.

That's what I was going to say, since we don't usually get to pick our sites. I've always wondered why they put someone right next door when there are plenty of options.

I have a theory about that--some of us, especially myself, are what I call "a..hole magnets" and if there are any around--be it in restaurant, theater, store, or campground, we just attract them to us. It's a natural condition that we just "have" and can't get rid of--we have to suffer it throughout our lives.
I have gone into restaurants at 3:30 in the afternoon, just to have some peace and quite, a nice calm meal and had a bus full of yahoo's- mom, dad, kids, and grandparents swarm the booth right next to mine! It is some kind of herding instinct that some humans seem to have. It can't be cured or, for people like us, avoided.

I had a similiar experience at a movie theater years ago, the hole place was empty just the DW an I. Right when the movie started another couple came in and sat right behind us.

Do people really need to be that close to each other?

I once checked into a motel with hardly any cars in the parking lot. I wondered what was wrong with it but thought at last it would be quiet. An hour later three or four buses pulled up stuffed with screaming teenagers. I spent the night with the TV tuned to an off-the-air station, turned up loud for white noise. This was obviously before cable.
