It is so easy to try and put blame on a certain set of people, As you can see from my sig I am in Rockport and also I am a "Winter Texan" in the resort that I stay in not many of us even lock our doors. Before blaming one group I would do as one of the others suggested and get CSI on it. Trail cameras are great and will give you proof that will hold up in court. I have not read anything in the local paper indicating a problem or listing of a theft. They put everything in the paper to fill it out. Sorry you have lost things but get some proof before laying the blame on a certain set of people. Most of us come here because we feel welcome and like that.

I guess what you are saying is all us Northerners have "Sticky fingers". Before you blame the visitors, look in your own backyard. It could be kids in your neighborhood trying to make a couple free dollars. Get your local law enforcement involved.

Ditto x2.
Wow, The OP feels the need to post about a personal theft AND then blame snowbirds for the crime rate in your OWN town
I'm not really happy about your blanket descrpition that shows we "Winter Texans" as thieves, not cool at all.

In AZ, in a resort we stayed winters for 3 years, the security staff was volunteer guest staying in the resort. In the months following January, people begin to leave for home and theft went up. Because there were fewer people watching for this. It was always local people. Mostly young teens. Several of them were caught climbing over the walls.
We are staying in another area in AZ with a locked gate. But that may not stop this either. The wall seems higher...

I lock my RV door even if I'm walking around the park. And lock the truck, in it or out of it. Hubby thinks I'm nuts & shakes his head when he sees me getting the key out of my pocket. Oh well...

It’s so scary these days…I guess that’s one reason insurance rates have gone up.

Me, too. I lock the front door even when I'm in the kitchen.

Locks are only there to slow thieves down, but the amount of people who don't have bad things happen to them because they locked their doors is astronomical.
