I am looking at purchasing a 2007 Coachmen Leprechaun 318ds. I'd like to have an RV tech inspect it for me prior to signing on the dotted line but unsure of how to find one. Anyone have any thoughts? Also, comments on this specific RV would be nice! I'm going from a 5th wheel to this one.

Have you tried to google for your area?

Try googling, and if that doesn't work, contact a local RV dealerships service department. One of them might be willing, if their contract allows, or they could point you in a direction to find one.

Having it inspected can't be a bad thing but it could still miss a roof or window leak. I would get a Sealtech procedure on it to see if there are any leaks. Should be about $150. I would try to get the seller to pay for it IF you buy the coach. If there is a leak, it would be money well spent.

Cape Cod RV Major
Here is a clicky to show you one that we have in our area. I have never used them but just to give you an idea. Do a search in you area. Besides checking the house and all appliances and systems, make sure they can check out the chassis or have a Ford/Chev dealership check it out.

See you on the road!

Call the local rv parks in your area, and ask for any mobile repair men. Many of them do the inspections for people.

Sorry, we had terrible luck with random mobile RV techs recommended by campgrounds.

@Sgodley12: If you don't already have a trustworthy guy of your own, I'd suggest making an appointment with your local RV repair place and drive the camper over there before purchasing it.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Googling brought me to an rv tech site but there were none in my area. The Sealtech suggestion was interesting, I will check that out. I am buying a 3 year warranty for 3400 if I get it but I still want it checked out. By the way, I am a female and am also wondering, are these things easy to learn to drive? Not that women can't drive bigger rigs but thought I'd ask! Thanks again.

Kinda funny, in 40 years of fulltining in 1103 different rv parks, we used nothing BUT campground recommened rv repair men and inspectors. Never had a bad un,.

Strange how times makes people different.

We are the proud new owners of 2010 Roo 183. I bought it from a private owner 4.5 hours away. There was no way I was going to travel that far to look at it let alone purchase it without having someone smarter than me take a look at it first. I told the seller that I would pay for an inspection (I gave him a list of three local RV dealers/service depts) if he would bring it there.

I paid $400 for a full inspection. It cost more because they had to de-winterize and then re-winterize the unit to run all of the plumbing tests. At the end of the day they found a caulking issue on the roof and that was it. The seller agreed to pay for that repair and I just had to drive down and do my own quick inspection and then drive home with it. That $400 lets me sleep better knowing an expert has gone through it top to bottom looking for things I would never know to look for. If I was buying from a dealer I probably would not have done this.

Good Luck!
