I have found 4 New Sharp polycrystalline 224watt Panels, Model# ND224UC9BX for the total price of $896.00 and $215.00 shipping to the front door. Works out to be about $1.00 p/watt.
Worth the effort?

Nice panels. Are they 12 or 24 volt output?
Yes they do make controllers with 24 volt nominal input that will charge 12 volt batteries. 12 volt nominal is about 21 volts open circuit with nothing connected to the output of the solar panel, while 24 volt nominal is about 42 - 45 volts with nothing connected.
You are going to have a bigger solar system that I have, and I spent over $3000! My first pair of panels came with a controller, mounting hardware, instructions, and 35' of #10 wire. Pair of 45 watt panels for $750! Later I bought a 75 watt panel for about $375, and a pair of 120 watt panels in 1999 for only $429 each! The price has really come down.
I have a solar boost 50 amp controller, it can take in up to 60 volts DC and put out either 12 or 24 volts nominal. Right now I have it take in 12 - 21 and put out 12. (actually about 13.6 when charging and 15.5 when in equalize mode.

Fred,
They are 24V panels, to be used with a MPPT controller.

Hi Don H.,
That may be too much amperage for the Tristar 60 amp (output side) controller. I do know you are planning a flat install, so you might "get by" with it.

Hi Don
My SWAG,
By using the MorningStar string calculator and using the data for the panels, of the 3 types listed for 224w panels,(can't find the exact panel model #).
It says that as long as I use 2 strings with 2 panels in series and 2 strings in parallel, that I'll end up with 896 watts, and have 85.16 max Voc and 64.32 max VMP. If I read this right?
For the guys asking for site info, it has already been posted by GMCToyman on his post.
Tia,
