Can ya believe it? This is getting even better! We are hoping to have the house on the market by Memorial Day. But we don't really want to have the camper in the driveway while we are trying to sell the house. So we decided, why not stay out full time for the summer? We are going to need to switch. Campgrounds and that is in process of being arranged. But come April 1st, Lord willin' and the creek don't rise, we may very well be full timing permanently!!!!!!!

Probably the best advice I would be able to give you....when you go into a camping world store (and you will) before you check out take the cart over to one side and really look at what you have. You will discard about 3/4 of it the first year out. Things like the paper plate holder ???? The steering wheel table at $50+, go to Wal-Mart and get one of the decorator tables don't use the legs and put the round top on the steering wheel cover and you have a nice table for about $6.99. and so on....

No doubt you have a ton of "things" acquired over the years that you really don't need. Rent one of those storage places for all the stuff you can't bear to get rid of, but know you can't fit on board, in the off chance that you do, after all, need it. Arrange to be on the other coast one year hence, and invite the kids/grandkids/friends/neighbors to help themselves to anything in that storage place.
Disclaimer: no, I haven't done that personally, but it seems to me to be the most painless way of handling it, and I might actually do that when the day comes.

We have a somewhat half- baked concept for a moving/ moving out sale: essentially we would open outdoors to the publice. After hiding true valuables and stuff we will not sell, allow people to walk thru the house. If you see something you like make an offer. We want as little as possible left behind and we have some large stuff to sell ( heavy shop tools, furniture, etc. I'm still formulating it but that's my basic thought.

Hi Steven/faith, I am heading in the same direction as you. The mass market is way off as we tried in 2011 with no luck. i do hope we can make it this year as there seems to be a little ray of hope in the re mkt. be prepared for low ball offers and price the home right and we hope to see ya on the road. Good luck paul/joann

Paul, here is some encouraging news to add to your ray of hope! Our neighbor put their house on the market last summer. They were priced a little high and got a little activity but no offer. So they dropped the price, nothing. Dropped it twice more... Nada. So they took it off the market in October, put it back on the market in January, and had it under contract in 3 weeks. So I agree with you that things might be picking up. Good luck to you and I'll buy you a cup of coffee at the next rest stop!

Curious as to what campground you're staying at...need a place relatively close to Boxborough, and can't find anything but Minuteman in Littleton...??

Think about removing valuables or putting them in a locked room/area rather than hiding them. People do walk off with items from yard sales, etc. If you cannot be in the room with a "hidden" valuable, then I would not consider it safe. Also think about getting an "estate sale" company to come in, price, and conduct the sale. I think they take 10% but you will probably end up with more than you would get the other way and with a lot less hassle. Plus "estate" sales seem to attract a lot more folks than yard or garage sales.

Very good ideas! Thank you.
