I'd hate to see that. Is there REALLY that many private "campgrounds" in that part of the country? I've been through the area several times and don't recall seeing many at all, just a lot of RV parks which don't provide anywhere NEAR the same service. Keep us informed as it will have an impact on vacation/travel planning for many of us. If you have access to the bills addemdums and can check out the details it would help. How are they defining "campground" in the bill?

The one thing that I would hope to see in the bill is a provision that prices should be the same if they provide the same services. Swimming pools, full hookups and so on.
Perfectly put. I use the NC parks system. But let's face it. Its not very fair for the privately held campground owner plus this keeps government from expanding.
I respect your right to try to repeal this but I for one can't stand with you here.

I probably should not have started this thread, as it has political tones. I would like to ask the moderator to shut it down.

There is no reason to shut this down. It's good info that I would have missed since I only get the paper on weekends. I have already sent a letter to my representatives expressing my opinion. It's bad enough that the state barely funds the state parks let alone get involved in something this stupid. In doing a quick check the campground owner who asked for this bill is already charging a lower fee for a back in 30 amp water/electric site. That is the only type of site that can be compared to a state park site which do not have full hookups. As a matter of fact for the W/E site with two dogs at the state park it is $46.10 a night for two nights.

Quote: But let's face it. Its not very fair for the privately held campground owner plus this keeps government from expanding. This is patently absurd! We are taxpayers. We are paying to support the public parks, are we not? Why should it be considered unfair for state parks to charge lower fees? Makes no sense!
