While talking with DW about smaller more fuel efficient Rvs a question came up.
We have stoped many times with TTs, 5th wheels and Motorhomes that we have owned over the years but wondered if anyone stopped for an overnight at a truckstop with a POPUP or a Aliner? We do not remember seeing any.
thanks bob and jackie

We have stayed a lot in truckstops and rest areas, but can not recall seeing pop ups or A liners either.

I used a PU for over 10 years and never overnighted in a parking lot of any kind. Some may do it, but in almost 50 years of camping if I’ve ever seen a PU in a truck stop or a parking lot I don’t remember it. It’s my perception that truck stops are heavily weighted to MH’s with a few big 5ers or TT’s thrown in. And parking lots seem to have a lot of bigger FW’s and TT’s. PU’s are so small and flexible I think they’re able to find a spot to camp overnight without much trouble.

I used a truck stop only once, in Arizona when winds were so strong that driving further was unsafe and there was no alternative. But I still felt guilty because the big trucks really need those slots -- they can't pull into an RV park or state park the way we can.

What possible difference would the KIND of RV you have make? Never been MY idea of fun to camp in ANY parking lot but certainly not because if the RV type.

Skipnchar ..... While we also do not think of "sleeping over night at a truck stop" as "camping" we do think it is safer than driving more then 6 ours a day with out a good nights rest. What do you think?

Well in 40+ years of RV'ing mostly in PopUps I have to say I've never seen anyone including myself open up in a truck stop for a night.
JMHO but it seems a little to much and kind of exposed.

I agree. Type of RV shouldn't matter.

Plus, we feel the same way. You'll never catch us overnighting at any truck stop, rest area, parking lot, or on city streets (seriously?). Safety is our main concern, and you'll have to excuse us if we just don't feel it at these places.
