For everybody who is wondering why they bought an RV?
Here is the answer............If you don't try it, you will never know.
So, now you know and you can sell the RV and then find something you like to do.

It's something I want to guard against. Otherwise pretty soon the world closes in and all folks want to do is sit in the easy chair, watch TV and practice dieing. Pretty easy for this to happen if we do not continue to challange ourselves. JMHO
You really lifted my Sprits!
I'm going to go out and wash my Rv in just a few minutes ..after I read the rest of these...
Then I will come back in to my easy chair!

Vulcaneer x 2. Those who are fully loaded and ready to go, probably don't live in the Northeast or other cold climates. Mice make nests from bedding and cans of food can "explode" when frozen.
We RV to see the sights and sleep in our own beds, otherwise I could have a camp fire on the rock in front of my house.
I am lucky enough to have continual access to fishing, boating, etc., our trips are 8-10+K miles and we don't start having fun until we are west of the Mississippi even though there are things to see and do on the eastern side.
Packing for these trips takes tremendous time and effort because they involve months of travel and I wouldn't do it for say, a week-long fishing trip.
Once you return home, you have to reverse the packing procedure and that takes almost as much time as packing.

I don't get either. They still have to pack, they still have to drive, they still have to cart things into the room and back out. With the RV, it's usually already there with just a few adjustments. They have their own clean sheets, towels, shower etc. It just re-enforces how much I love an RV.

I actually first got into camping for the "love" of a dog. I hated going on vacation and leaving her. Many years later, and that dog has long since passed on to rainbow bridge, I am still an avid camper. I can thank that little dog for even more than just wonderful companionship, she introduced me to a life long hobby.
You made my wife cry....We lost our dog in December!!

One of the couples in our group has a 32' Fifth-wheel, but have decided not to go since the cabins are all booked. They say camping is "just too much trouble". During the discussion, two other couples joined in saying they had RV's in the past but agreed that getting them packed and ready, towing them to a destination, etc. "wasn't worth it". What isit with these people? They are active adults, not couch potatoes. Why did they buy an RV in the first place? This Rant has been brought to you courtesy of lizzie. Some people live experiences and enjoy the heck out of them for a period of time . Myself, and like a lot of others , after years of doing some activitiy like hunting , fishing , tent camping , RVing or whatever ,find that our opinions change over time and as we "age" . Sometimes the reward is no longer worth the effort. Sometimes the activity no longer takes a priority in our lives as it once did .Sometimes doing less of an activitiy but at a better quality may make more sense. Buying an RV and feeling obligated to use it, either by yourself or others ,is not what that life style is all about . If your friends no longer want to go , there may not be anything wrong with them at all . They've been there done that and now wish not to anymore .Life is Good

DW, Is ok now. Just hit the spot. Lydia our Australian Shepherd was almost 15 years old.
We made many decisions so that she could travel with us and she is responsible for many of the RV choices we made.
I recall one time while in our RV on the outer banks a Nor Easter developed.
The warnings went out to take shelter. We went to the office made of brick. Walked inside and the owners said: We are sorry, we have a no pet policy.
I said can we sit on the floor inside the doorway and have Lydia lay on my lap till the 90mph winds die down?
Their reply was no, I'm sorry we just have a no pet policy.
We left and went back to our RV!!
All I said to the owner was: God Bless You!
That was better then what was on the inside!

Come on everyone- the OP was entitled to their rant- but for starters none of us KNOW the situation of the folks that don't want to go. We are being way too hard on them for passing on one trip that we know nothing about!
Secondy- I can't belive how closed minded most of the replies are. Going camping in an RV is a significant amount of work. Not everyone can park the RV at the house, someone made a good point about food shopping. Add to that there's hitching, filling water, dealing with black/gray tanks leveling, hooking up. What we are forgetting is that RVers are the type that enjoy those things.
That being said, a canoe trip takes effort, camping takes effort and again, we do not no anything about the situation of the campers. Maybe it's simply the wrong weekend where they are busy at work the weekend before and the weekend after.
I love both canoeing and camping, but with work and kid's I cannot drop and go whever someone else schedules a trip.
Some discussion is ok, but too many of these posts are condeming.
