You might consider adapter plugs. Depending on what is on your RV. You may be limited at some parks unless you have some adapters. I also have a plug in voltmeter inside my TT, a polarity tester to check out the plug before I plug in my TT. I also carry a cheapo VOM in my TT from Walmart ($13 last I looked)
I think Good Sam is an exellent organization to join. I know, I know, you will get lots of trash mail but that can be stopped by calling them. I sign up for 3 years which is $16 a year. At the current RV park prices you will save that amount if you spend 5 days a year in parks. Good Sam claims you get many other discounts also and that is debatable because I find that Camping World is high on some of their prices compared to Amazon, and I don't think much of their fuel price discounts. I will still be a member as long as I am an RVer.

Surely I am not the only one who shops the local thrift store for camper items. I get all my linens from the thrift store, as well as my cooking pot & utensils, crockpot, coffee pot, trashcans, shower curtain, cups and storage bins. Costs me a fraction of what it would be new from Walmart. I have bought some metal shelving for my deep cabinets at Walmart, as well as sewer hoses, a broom, and some wooden drying racks. We originally bought our camping chairs and sleeping bags from Walmart or Target--it's been so many years ago I can't remember. We're still using all that original equipment.
But as they say, Walmart is everywhere. If you get out there and find that you're missing some vital piece of equipment, Wally world will be happy to fix you right up.

We have camped for years, in many different forms. I must admit I do love a good tent, but my back is not overly happy with one anymore...lol I like the idea of a real bed and closing the door to the elements and bugs more. I have always found that here in Canada we find a lot of our things at Canadian Tire and Walmart. Basic needs for just about anything can be found there, if you need something that is a special object for an RV, then we can normally find what we need in a few RV dealers close by, that all so carry a lot of wonderful little gadgets...and tubing for all kinds of liquids. I am all about the mighty dollar, so if Walmart has it or I can figure out something in WM that will work with a little fiddling...I am on it.
If you haven't bought one yet I would rent a few times with different floor plans to get an idea of what is important to you. Kitchen lay out and location, corner bed or walk around bed, permanent bed or one that needs to be made up each night, table and chairs or dinette.

A lot of great ideas have been mentioned already - here's one more ~ talk with fellow campers/RV'ers - learn from them. We've learned so much from other RV'ers - just strike up a conversations! We've learned of many off-the-beaten-path places to hike or eat, places to see, things to fo, things not to do, etc..... As well as great advice.

So true! My mother is a volunteer at the St. Vincent De Paul thrift store and she got me a bunch of stuff (either brand new or just like brand new) for our RV when we first got it. Great resource! I just tell her what we need and she watches for it to come in if it isn't already there.
