This may be a non-issue but just the random things I think about early in the morning and wanted to see if anyone had an opinion on...

OK, so I am new to all of this and just getting used to driving and parking the new TT. So, given the option at a site I would initially opt for the drive-through rather than the back-in. Although I got a lesson in backing in when I went to store my TT this weekend in a very tight spot the place assigned me. Good thing my wife is an excellent spotter.

I got to thinking... is this bad form in the eyes of my fellow camper with a bigger rig who may be staying at the site and could benefit more from the drive-through? It's kind of like if I went to a restaurant and asked for the table that seats 8 when there are only 2 of us. Or, is it up to the person managing the site to make that decision?

Again, thanks for entertaining my odd question.

9 times out of 10 I will take what is offered. I am usually asked questions. Full hookup? How long are you? Towing? 30 or 50 amp? I often ask for something special like clear of trees so I can use my satellite TV, or close to WIFI. If I am just overnighting and want to sleep then move on early I will ask for a pull through so I don't have to drop the toad. In general the people who own or run the park take care of putting people where they need them to go and they usually know what to expect based on the time of day, time of the year, and day of the week. They get their money from having the site occupied and don't want to turn away a paying customer so they will put you where they think you can all benefit the most.

Not an "odd"question at all.
A couple of thoughts...

>Private campgrounds will often assign sites based on rig length..
>You are being very kind by considering others.
>First come first serve most often plays a part in site assignment.
>If you can't back up your rig, you shouldn't be pulling it.

Bad analogy. You can ask for a table of 8 at a restaurant when there are only 2 of you, but they won't give it to you because you are taking the place of 8 paying customers when there are only 2 of you.

A site is a site. Only 1 customer is going to use it. If it's you, it's you. If it's not, it's someone else. If you want to pay the premium for a pull-thru, it's your prerogative.

No etiquette involved. If you want to pay for a larger site go for it. you pay for the convenience, popularity, and size of site. The size of your rig is not an issue. In time you may find the price of the convenience is not worth the expense. Those with larger rigs have no choice but to purchase the larger site. You may have cheaper options.
In the end its all first come first serve no etiquette involved.

This Q has been asked before. Most of the replies were "First come, First Served". There is no problem using a pull-thru with a smaller rig. If it's not reserved, it's yours.

Nice of you to consider others. I'd want you next to me in a campground.

Where we camp it is all first come, first serve. You choose your own site. I see tents camped in large spots. They were there first,we all pay the same regardless of site. Power to them for getting that site. I don't care as I will find a spot I like.

I ask for pull thru sites at a local CG if we are camping with friends so we can face each other. Some CG allow this some don't

I hate backing my TT! I will go for a pull-thru every time. I can hitch, pull, level, and drop all day long, but please, PLEEEEZE don't make me back that thing up. It's not even that hard, I know that. But I get so overly anxious, to the point of tears, that I've had to ask other campers to back it in for me. My DH can put a camper in just about any slot, no matter how difficult so I just let him do it. I'm an excellent navigator and spotter--we each excel at our own things, i guess
