Mine is permanently attached to a power cord retractor/deployer. It feed thru a 5" hole with cap in the compartment floor. Press the button for out, press it again to retract it. Makes hookups a pleasure......Dennis

I'm starting to like this idea of a cord retractor/deployer. I think it'd allow for much better use of the storage space because the cord would be all wound up and neatly stowed, instead of laying out everywhere in the storage bin.

Do they make a manual one? I'd prefer that actually for the simplicity, if it was an option..

Once again, thanks to all for your responses on this, and keep them coming. I've definitely learned a thing or two, in how power cords on 50 amp powered coaches are done a bit different from what I'm used to with the TT and its 30 amp setup.

Here is a link to several hatches that can be used, clicky

My utility bay came with two cutouts, one for water and one for electrical. They cut through the utility bay door frame and I had to replace the door, I put two water fill hatches in the new door so I can run either thru and lock the utility bay door. I'd send a picture but the rig is 45 miles away in storage and I won't be going til tomorrow.

Ours was made by Glendinning and does not freewheel. Press up to extend, down to retract....no pulling involved.....Dennis

Never seen a Hi line Monaco Signature series???? They have power in and out. Most Newmar Hi Lines from Mountainair up have had power in and out for at least 12 years and it was an option on the Dutchstar Diesel for those years when it was not standard. The Glendinning system was also used on Western RV Diesel motorhomes. Doug

...Just to revive and update a very old thread:

We brought the MH home a few weeks ago, and indeed, it has an opening in the bottom of the rear storage bay as many said.

Lots of great suggestions made here on how to avoid allowing critters to get in through that hole the power cord comes through, thanks for those! I ended up getting a 2nd "plug" piece that screws into the opening, and drilling a 1" hole in it for the cord to go through. Found it was very easy to disconnect the shore line from the transfer switch, slide the new plug onto the power cord, then reconnect the power cord to transfer box.

Sooo, now I have one 'plug' that has the cord going through it, without any gap for critters to get in. As well as the other plug that closes the opening up when on the road. Initially did not want to do this as was afraid it'd be too much of a PITA to disconnect the cord (briefly) from the transfer box, but turns out that was a piece of cake.

Really like this approach much better than the old way it was done on the TT, where I had to get out entire (30 amp) cord and attach it.

My 98 Beaver and my 90 Beaver both had power in/power out cable reels with 50' of cable on them. Makes hookups easy. I've only seen the pull out/ power in on fivers. My concern with that is that it looks easy to yank out the cord and steal it for the copper. Power out means they can only get the part from the coach to the power post.

Mine has a hole in the bottom of the compartment and when you roll the chord back in it has a snap on type hinged cover. That way you can lock your compartment all the time even when hooked up to shore power. I believe you can goggle and search for the product.

I'd be looking at the floor in the rear storage compartment. There are all kinds of trap doors made to open, shut and also to accommodate a cord if you can just find a good place to cut a hole.
Mine has two or three in the same compartment where the other utilities are located, but seldom use any, as we never sit still long enough and just leave the compartment door loose since they hinge up anyway.
