We have a 2010 Montana Mountaineer we bought new last year. We have an intermitten problem with the hearter and it won't work in cold temperatures. Dealers have been unable to find the problem as the weather where we live is mild so it makes troubleshooting difficult.
In cold temps (30s - 40s) it seems the heater will work one or two days and they quits. Sometimes it has only worked a day. We will turn the thermostat off and back on, you can hear the heater clicking but it won't ignite and only blows cold air. After about 10 minutes the heater shuts itself off.
Any suggestions!

I really can't help you, but if the heater doesn't work satisfactorily in cold weather, there's really something wrong with it, the only time you need it is in cold weather. Like an air conditioner not working if the temps are over 80 degrees. Sorry for your problem, but I'll bet you get it fixed pretty easily. How long have you had the trailer, is this a warranty problem?

We have had the trailer a year and this problem since day one. Dealers can't find a problem. So far, they are working on it under warranty.
I was told, the cold temperatures may be the problem and that there may nothing wrong with the furnace. Just too cold for the LP to work properly. Doesn't make sense.
I just wondered if anyone else had a problem similar to this.

Sounds like you might be out of LP. Heaters in RVs are one area that all companies need to work on.

I'm afraid the dealer is wrong as to that the LP will not work in AZ cold weather. Yesterday suppertime it was a balmy -11F (balmy at least in this part of the country). Roasted a chicken on the BBQ rotisary, outside where the BBQ and the tank reside all winter. We usually overnight in the TC icefishing and the furnace works like a charm under much colder conditions.
If you're still under warranty, insist to have the furnace replaced or sent out for an overhaul. It appears by your description that the thermostat is working properly. That is not a propane problem.

Nope, tanks were full. We also had full electrical hooks ups as they thought if we were running on batteries that they were low.
Hopefully, this time the dealer is checking the LP system to make sure everything is operating properly.

if your running off the battery it could be the ignition system on the heater doesn't have enough voltage to ignite the burner. I put in a second battery in parallel.

That is a cop out!
Propane will not stop flowing until it gets to about -40c.
But I would venture a guess if the dealer would do a pressure test of the gas system he will find out that you are low on line pressure. especially when the temps drop. Or the regulator is shutting down, causing the gas flow to stop. Insist that he do a pressure test, replace the rubber gas hoses and see what happens. Has he gotten the furnace manufacturer involved? I'll bet not.

Even though you are on full hooks ups your furnace system & fan uses 12V DC power......
What is the DC voltage during the cold weather under load?
Maybe the DC Voltage is too low........fan speed too slow to make up sail switch and/or ignition control not working/gas valve not opening
On Edit: Just read donn0128s post......X2 on line pressure test

Burner ignites - goes out after a few seconds
Possible causes:
low gas pressure
intake or exhaust vents obstructed
dirty burner
electrode(s) out of adjustment, dirty, or defective
bad control board
