It really amazes me how many people come on the forum, make snide or cutting comments about someone's post and then disappears. To reappear maybe a week or so later, jump into a discussion and do the same thing all over again. Civility seems to be disappearing in this country.

What's the point of this comment?
A troll maybe.

The best thing to do with disagreeable people is to ignore them. Just blow by obnoxious posts without engaging them: that's what they want, an argument and a chance to show off. So don't give them the satisfaction.

This is the INTERNET and as such you interact with people you would not in every day life.
I do not let comments on here upset me as I consider the source to be unknown.

But how would a troll know that fact?

I think that these posts are probably made by people using an "alternate" account so they can tell us what they really want without sullying their main commonly known and respected profiles.

I suspect that not everyone spends all their time posting on this site... so a visit every week or two might be their limit..

Doesn't amaze me. The Internet exposes us to a broader cross section of society, and there are rather large sub-cultures in our society that do not practice what we think of as civility, something that has existed only in isolated pockets in the U.S., at least during my lifetime.
You need only get out onto the road in any large urban center to learn just how civil we are, or are not. I've had to live and work in our more confrontational sub-cultures, so I was more surprised when I moved into a culture that was mostly civil. Thirty years now in this more civil place, I tend to forget how nasty people can really be, though it is only 45 minutes down the highway to the place where people are shooting each other daily. I avoid watching the news,
In the past eight years, I've noticed maybr a dozen people on this forum that are here only to express that aspect of their personalities. This one is remains the most civil of several I've joined, thanks to the moderators. But most people who come here seeking argument, I think, get bored after not getting the reaction they want, and move on.
