Would like to find out more about this story.Sounds like the judge might as well sentence him to death since he took away his livelihood.
But I'm sure there's alot more to know.

Certainly not a death sentence, as stated, so maybe he'll either go get another job, or bring the campground up to DEP standards. If he's in violation of public health laws, it should be closed.
Sounds like he's collecting SSI too, AND running a campground... not supposes to be able to work when drawing SSI.
Probably more to both sides than shows here, but DEP is normally flexible when a person is trying to comply - so maybe he isn't, and just hoped to get away with something. Happens a lot ...

Been by there many times and never noticed the place. Satellite puts it right beside the highway.

Sounds like someone is going out of there way to close the campground! Real estate buyers perhaps! What if he just got rid of the sewer system and had only W/E with a dump station?

There is nothing illegal about drawing Social Security Insurance payments while also working and/or owning a business. Many thousands of people do exactly that completely within the law.

Where does it say that he is collecting SSI? It says that he is collecting Social Security (SS)...he is 71 so he would be entitled to SS benefits as long as he had contributed 40 quarters to the SS fund. "Peckham is facing foreclosure of the campground and now has no income other than a monthly $705 Social Security check, Sandmeyer said." You are allowed to work while drawing SS benefits as far as I know. SSI is Supplemental Security Income which is SS benefits for the disabled.
