I've been to lots of Rallys & conventions but I've just learned some
surprising news. There are only 900 electrical sites avail.
FMCA has way oversold the elect sites. So if you have paid for elect. there is no gtd you will get it & they will refund the $'s paid for this. So as stated by an FMCA admin.
on the following site. Rally is Wed-Sun Jan. 9-13.
If you arrive Wed you will probably not have elect. Tues maybe, on
Sun & Monday should definately be available. You will need to arrive and pay the $20 per nite dry camping.
I have never heard of this before. If they have only 900 sites they
should sell only 900 elect. sites.
Someone is going with me who uses a C-PAP machine and I have to
have elect. So my understanding is, if I show up Wed. start of rally
and don't get elect. they give me the elect. part back but I can't
get a refund for the rally.
This is a total sham. I'm beyond upset.

It is on the FMCA website Forum..
Response to elect is from FMCA Administrator.

I am going with a FMCA chapter and doing a pre rally. so we are carravaning on Wed to the rally so we can be together. But no
elect.
If I don't get elect. I can't stay Have someone with me who needs elect for a C-PAP at night. So I'd spend for gas to get there for nothing. or have to skip pre rally & arrive on Sun or Mon.
If this is true, I'm ashamed to recommend FMCA.

I joined for one year and used the membership discount on Michelin tyres. I see no reason to renew, this and other news items makes me think FMCA is circling the drain.

Other than the magazine, which is mildly interesting, I agree. But this is not exclusive to FMCA, most all clubs that have an emphasis on the club aspect are rapidly going away. Elks, Eagles, Shriners, Loyal order of the Water Buffalo etc. are all but a fraction of their former selves. Just another ripple effect of our ever changing demographics.

When the economy was great, people didn't think about getting the best bang for their buck. But, when things get tight, everyone watches their dollars. Across the board, there has been a de-valuing of the consumer and employee. This makes people withhold their memberships and look for better deals or no deals

I just received an e-mail from the organizers assuring me not to worry, there would be plenty of electric sites for those with reservations.
The thread did make me realize that our group will want to arrive on Tuesday, to be around for the opening days activities. Our first Rally.

Per the e-mail I received.
They will be parking in the elect lot the RV's who arrived Sunday, first, Monday, second, Tuesday, third and then those who did not choose to arrive early and pay the $20 per nite to boondock.
So everyone who booked elect. is due to park in elect areas on Wed.
But if there are more than 900 people who reserved elect. who arrive
on Sun, Mon, Tue. then even if you reserved elect. and arrive on
Wed.. you will be refunded your elect. fees and have the choice
to park in the 24/7 generator area or the other parking areas.
You will not be given a refund of your rally fees.
I still think this is obnoxious..
Those who choose to arrive on Wed. the day the rally begins and what
they are selling ... Rally $190 2 people Wed 9th to Sun 13. with elect. I have my paperwork says elect G.. I may not get it, depends on
how many arrive Sun, Mon, Tue. who also paid for elect. but choose to
come early for $20 per nite.
