While we were camped in a location with no one around who knew us, I decided I needed someone in the campground who could get in touch with us in case of a problem. We were away, sightseeing every day. Then I decided to make it easy for anyone to reach us, if necessary.

I decided to use my label maker to make labels with our names and cell phone numbers, to place on the camper door. I thought about it and could see no obvious reason for wanting to remain anonymous, since we hadn't robbed any banks or convenience stores recently.

I don't think very many people do this, but it gives us a little better since of security, knowing anyone who comes to the door can call us if there is a problem.

We leave a sign in the window with our dog's name and our phone...
In Case of Emergency.

We leave the dog in the trailer when we are gone.

Never had a call, but i feel much better leaving it just in case.

We have a very visible sign that goes in our window right next to the door when we are away.

Dogs Inside Please Rescue in case of Emergency
then we give contact info...

(and please don't tell me about yapping dogs and air conditioner failure, and, and...)They don't yap and we don't leave them if we have to leave the air on.

Just an FYI. Someone got my phone number. They apparently used it as a contact number for several credit cards-so... When these good folks starting to get behind on their bills-guess who the banks called? Even a school nurse called me to tell me my daughter was missing too much school- I don't even have a daughter! Very annoying, as I worked night shift. Didn't dare turn off the ringer because I have a large, emergency prone family. I explained to these people a zillion times that I was not: Emilio Rodgriquez,(the real name!) but to no avail.
Even it you can't figure out it's value, someone else can figure out how to use your: name, birthdate, address, phone number, even license plate, to their advantage. I now try to remain anonymous, (when possible).

I guess, if you're sure that's how they got your number. I was weighing pluses vs minuses and saw no real minuses. If it got really bad I guess I could change my number.

We have our contact numbers posted. Hope they never have to be used. The CG office also has our cell phone numbers.

I have a contact name and phone number for my trailer as well...

We have turned off our phone ringers a long time ago. Can't tell when they ring... All of a sudden someone will speak up on the answer machine and if we know them we answer up. If not it gets deleted pretty soon...

If I was a neighbor and needed to contact you, I would go to the office for info - or at least let the office(or host)know what's going on. If I was a burglar, I could call you and find out that you were not going to be here for a certain amount of time.

we don't leave information at our site. However, we do carry cards with us that advises (in the event of an emergency, death etc) what our address is and that a pet is in the RV.
