I know there have been numerous suggestions for easy ways to start campfires but I thought I would add one more. I was burning some weeds when I thought why not take the weed burner along to start the fire. Tried it this weekend and it worked great. You can find them at hardware stores or Amazon

Whats wrong with paper, kindling, and a lighter. Not much in the way of cost or space. Works great at home and camping.

X2 - maybe a small can of charcoal starter for a stubborn fire. Seems like overkill for a weed burner!

Last trip out in January we left our dry wood sitting by the driveway and not in the truck bed where my son was supposed to put it. Found some good kindling but most wood we could find was moist from our not so dry winter. After many failed attempts I pulled the air compressor out and use that to force air into the fire. Apparently both neighbors likes the idea and did the same. Looked and sounded like we had three furnaces going. Worked great and its amazing what 100 psi of air will do to a smoldering fire.

I hate to be so dismissive to the OP but it does take a lot of the art, skill and satisfaction out of it. Maybe one of those fake electric fireplaces would be a good idea too.

I have a friend that alsdo uses his weed burner to light both his campfires and also his charcoal Weber. Man,does that thing do a job on the Weber. Instant coals.
